@efl21: Sounds like you are describing French Polynesia, but you probably wont get there for that budget. I have never been to the Sandals resorts so I don’t have anything to say about them.  However, why not another location in Hawaii?  You might have to cut out some of your dream things (private pool/outdoor shower) but you can go somewhere very nice on that budget.  I have only been to Kauai and Maui.  Maui has a lot to do but is a bit more popular and populated with honeymooners and families.  Kauai is a little more low key and absolutely gorgeous!   I am going to the Big island for the first time this summer.

Are there other resorts on the Big Island you would consider?

If not, I would pick one of the quieter Caribbean islands such as Anguilla or Turks and Caicos and stay in a regular resort, not all inclusive. They will be less full of honeymooners. On vacation I only eat at my hotel for maybe one meal a day so I’ve never understood the appeal of all inclusives.

If you really want something secluded you could rent a villa for the week on on of the islands. My friends did that and it was surprisingly affordable.

May is the beginning of the low season in the Caribbean so you may be able to find some good deal with a little research.

I think there are a lot of places in the Caribbean that would work well for you, like Cakegal said. There are always good deals there too, just spend some time googling or sign of for Sherman’s Travel Deals emails. You should be able to find something PERFECT with your budget.

There is a lovely private resort in Antigua called Cocobay Resort.  Some of the rooms have a private plunge pool.  Might be slightly over your budget though.

Oh, I know the perfect place for you …. and it is in your budget (around $3500 and it includes absoutlely everythng!). It is tropical and romaintic, but most of all, Very Private. You are the only oneds there!! (besides the staff, who stay invisible). It is in this gorgeous rain forest and you have the house all to yourselves. We practically lived in the waterfall  – no kids, no other couples, we luved it.

Hope you find just the right place!  Here is the link:

I stayed at a Sandals in St. Lucia and had a phenomenal time. If you went there for your honeymoon I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed!! I think if you go to any Sandals you will end up having a great time.  I’d love to go to Tahiti or Fiji but am am also thinking about Sandals Antigua to save a little dough!

We have done Sandals in Jamaica and St. Lucia. St. Lucia was our honeymoon and we met a lot of other honeymooners on our flight as well as at he resorts. I’m not sure why you said gross to other honeymooners as this was not a negative thing. If you search WB, I’ve written a pretty straight forward review of the 3 Sandals properties on St. Lucia which may give you a better idea. Depending on how long you plan to stay, you could do it within your budget as they often have online offers. Our trip was just under 5k for 10 nights including flight but we didn’t have a private pool. I believe Mrs. Snow wrote about her Zoetry honeymoon which sounded amazing and secluded but she went to Mexico although Zoetry does have a t least 1 property outside of Mexico.

Have you looked into Royal Kona Resort? We stayed there last May and it was wonderful. Everyone is so nice, everything is within walking distance (except for the Volcano) and there are several places around the resort that have good deals. We got engaged there and plan to get married there as well and then spend 4 days at their sister site in Maui for our honeymoon. I hope you have found something, but if not please feel free to PM me.
