So I’ve been posting on a couple honeymoon threads and it seems a lot of people are scared of honeymooning in the carribean because of hurricane season. We are booking through my fiance’s cousin who is a rep for Apple and she told us not to worry. I also have poured over hundreds of reviews and spoken to people on trip advisor who have gone during October and said it was sunny and pleasant the whole time.
We’ve chosen an all inclusive adults only in riviera maya. (Valentine Imperial Maya if you’ve wondering)
I’m hoping we don’t regret it and I’m not going to focus on the time of year sooo…..please tell me we’re not the only ones going to mexico during “rainy season” Anyone else out there booking in the carribean or mx??

@scoatoam: hate to say it but I have always wanted to get married in Sept/Oct and I specifically decided against it because of the hurricane season in Mexico. I’m sure it will be fine but I have the worst luck so didn’t want to chance it! Plus, it’s not just a honeymoon, it would be my wedding too! Not good!

The interesting thing is the Knot says the best times to go are from october through may….and thats a pretty reputable company, so we’ll see how it goes 🙂 Some people Ive talked to have gone during the summer and they’ve had more rain on their trip than going in the fall so it’s really hit or miss. I guess we’ll see 🙂

@scoatoam: weather can be hit or miss. i have a home in the yucatan so i am familiar with the weather here. just enjoy your honeymoon. the resort is fabulous and you will have a great time. even if it does rain, there are always many activities to do inside the resort (not to mention, in your room ).

we are honeymooning in Cancun in mid October. I’m not worried about the weather at all. If it rains the entire time we’re there, I’m positive we will have plenty of fun staying in the room! 😉 Plus I’ve been through plenty of hurricane seasons where I live, so no biggie. 😉

I just went to part of Mexico– Sonora– and there, in the desert, the rainy season is mostly in (I think) July/August. It must be different where you’re going!
Also. . . I imagine you know this already, but all the stuff about germs in the water and on most raw food there is, unfortunately, true. 🙁 I got sick. So be super careful!!! But have fun– tropical places are so, so amazing!

I honeymooned in Cancun in December. It was wonderful! Many companies will help you out if there is a chance of a hurricane. My sister had a 40th birthday trip planned in August 2012 by my BIL to Dominican Republic- the resort changed their reservation to the same resort in Cabo. It worked out great for them- missed the hurricane and still got an awesome vacation.

We have booked Moon Palace Resort in Cancun for 3 days after our wedding! I am not worried about the weather at all. It surely can’t rain the whole 2 weeks we’re there! At least, that is what I keep telling myself. I am pretty sure we’ll have an awesome time no matter what the weather! 🙂

We’re honeymooning from October 7th through 15th at The Royal Suites Yucatan by Palladium (Riviera Maya). I’m not really worried about the weather too much.
But we are SO EXCITED!!!! This will be both of our first ‘real’ vacations.

We just booked for Excellence Riviera in Cancun, I’m no more worried about the weather than I would be if I were going in February. We’ll have a good time either way!

We are staying at the eldorado resorts and will be leaving October 16th through the 22nd. We did purchase insurance so Im not too worried 🙂 Our travel agent said in 9years she’s only had two bookings that had bad weather. Luck?? …. Maybe lol but Im choosing to leave it in Gods hands and not stress when there’s so much more to be concerned with 😀
