We’re planning on taking our honeymoon in the Virgin Islands during the first week of June. I’m a little scared because June begins hurricane month!!! Should I be scared? Has anyone taken a honeymoon during this time in hurricane season???

I went last July and it was 10 days of sunshine! There was a just quick passing shower that lasted maybe 15-20 minutes a few days.

I’ve been to the Caribbean multiple times in June or early July, and I have never had a problem with hurricanes or serious tropical storms. Although June is technically considered the start of hurricane season, most hurricanes tend to present themselves a bit later in the season.
The one issue you may encounter — besides the obvious heat and sometimes humidity depending on where you are — is insects. I have been eaten alive during most of my June/July trips to the Caribbean. I do not like or wear insect repellent, however, so, if you do, you may be much less bothered than I have been.

I went on vacation to the USVI last July and the weather was amazing!! We had off and on rain one morning on St. Johns but by 11 or 12 the sun was out for the rest of the day. The best part of going in the summer is no crowds!! The beaches were mostly empty and the crowded ones were not bad at all.

We went to Jamaica in late June/early July for 8 days and it rained for about 1 hour the first night we got there – that was it!. June is technically the beginning of the season, but in reality, not many storms pop up during that time. I’d be much more cautious if I were going Aug-Oct.

We are honeymooning in June in the Caribbean, and we aren’t too worried about it. June is the very beginning of the hurricane season, so you should be fine. By the way, we are both Charlotte brides!
