For those who recently applied for passports, how long did it take for it come in? We leave for our Honeymoon in a little over 4 months but we haven’t applied for our passports yet. It’s on our list of things to do this month but I want to make sure we’ll get them in time. I know we could expedite it but the passport fee is already high and the federal government isn’t exactly my friend right now so I sort of refuse to give them anymore money than we have to, lol. The website says 6-8 weeks for processing. Is that accurate?

My niece just applied for a passport. I think she said it takes 6 weeks but for an additional fee (almost double) you can rush it, which will be 2 weeks.

Mine took about a month with no rush fees.

I applied for mine the beginning of August last year and got it well before October 1st. It think the standard is 6-8 weeks! But 2ndtime is right you can rush it for an additional $…

I had to rush mine (forgot it expired). The website said 2-4 weeks and I got it in 2.5. I have heard from other people that it is accurate. If you do it this month, you should be more than fine.

They told us it could take up to 6 weeks … it took just under 3 weeks (no additional fees).

@UpstateCait: You should be totally extra super duper good if you do it this month.
Fiance needs to get one, just to have for future travel… and when we got our marriage license the other day I noticed that between his license, social security card and birth certificate… his first name is spelled 2 different ways. Can’t wait to see how impossible getting a passport for him will become! I hope you guys don’t have any trouble 🙂

We are leaving on our honeymoon at the end of November, and we are going sometime before the beginning of July to apply for ours. From what I have been told (and I hope it’s right) it shouldn’t take more than two months.

@thewheelsonthebus: Let’s be honest, even though I say it’s on my to-do list for this month, it probably won’t happen until next month. Procrastination is my middle name. =)
As long as I can assume the 6-8 week quote is the worst case scenerio, I think we’ll be good.

@UpstateCait: Mine too… which is why I’m sorta glad we went with the quickie wedding, ha!

Darling Husband and I got them on the same day. His came back in 4 weeks and mine came back in 10 weeks. Dont procrastinate! LOL

not to scare you, but mine took months. approx 3 months. and mine was just a renewal. I submitted it in April, and was leaving the country in late July. 2 weeks before I was supposed to leave, it still hadn’t come so I made an appt at the passport office to get an emergency passport (which you can only do within 2 weeks of travel). It finally came after I made the appointment so I cancelled it, but it was within a week of me leaving for my trip. Don’t wait. 6-8 weeks might be the norm, but its not worth the stress, especially considering this is the government you are dealing with. They aren’t exactly known for being efficient and timely.

Ours took about 4 weeks, no rush was needed. However, I wouldn’t delay, as it’s the traveling season and more people are applying.

Ours took about 4-6 weeks with no rush put on it.
