Okay ladies. Here come the pics!
The following were taken when I ordered the dress:
And these were taken last night, at my first fitting when they added the hoop thing underneath to add volume and keep the dress in place:
(I realize the fit looks weird at the bottom of the corset… The stiching came undone a bit for some reason… Once they fix it it will be a nice fit – just like when I ordered it 🙂
So which looks better?
Added volume or no?
The lady kinda talked me into it saying that the hoop makes it easier to walk in the dress (It’s true actually, with the hoop, the dress doesnt get caught between my legs and it kinda pushes the hem away from my feet when I walk so it’s less likely that I will step on my dress – it also makes it easier turn around in the dress). She also said that it displays the detailing better, like you can actually see the dress now…
What do you girls think?
I kinda fell in love with the sample dress the way it was, but I also like the ease that comes with the hoop… Is there a big difference. I don’t want to look TOO mermaid-ish…
Thoughts and advice appreciated!!!!!!

@O.My.Heart: Gosh, that’s a tough decision! It looks beautiful both ways! I think I would go with the hoop though. Especially knowing you can walk easier!

@O.My.Heart: I like the hoop! It’s not a huge difference, but just enough to take the dress from pretty to GORGEOUS!

I like the hoop. I think the salesperson is right that the hoop shows off the details on the bottom more and it would be easier to walk in. The difference is very subtle and the hoop doesn’t look too mermaid-ish to me.

I like the hoop it gives it the right amount of added volume! Have you tried sitting with it on thou? I’ve heard they are awkward to sit in.

I voted no hoop because I like the movement of the dress better. But it’s so not noticeable…so I would go with whichever is more comfortable/less expensive.

This is going to sound strange, but I feel that with the hoop your curves look better! I guess the slightly more dramatic angle emphasizes them, simply for that and the fact that its easier to walk I would use the hoop!

I like the hoop too! It accentuates the shape, but its not overdone! I am wearing a hoop too and it makes my life easier!

I agree with minipenguin! The hoop makes you look classy and sexy at the same time. It makes the dress very chic looking and adds a better shape to the ruffles than without the hoop. Of course this is all my own opinion, and if you originally liked the dress, and fell in love with the dress, without the hoop, then don’t wear it. You’re the one who is wearing the dress, you need to love it! I hope the decision is an easy one for you! Everyone with love you and the dress, no matter how you wear it!

I vote no hoop, as I prefer the flow of the fabric without!

I vote with hoop. It makes the dress pop just a little more. Either way you look amazing in the dress! If its easier to walk in it thats a plus too

I like the added volume with the hoop, it looks fantastic.
If you aren’t comfortable in moving or sitting with a hoop (which can be awkard) have you considered a mermaid slip? That is what I ended up getting and it provided just the right amount of added volume but was super comfortable and easy to move around in.

@weddingbound: I am going back on Sunday. I plan on re-trying the crinaline (hoop thing) and sitting in it.
@Treejewel19: Turns out they do have mermaid slips and I plan on trying that too 🙂
Part of me thinks I was having a hard time walking in the dress without these accessories because they didn’t hem it properly… They had pinned the hem just above the floor and the bottom of the dress kept flowing on my feet everytime I took a step, it was awquard to say the least because I didn’t want to step in it and rip it…
My mom says that the hem should have been a little higher; like, you couldn’t even see my feet… She says that is why I was having a hard time walking in it without the hoop thing. My mom thinks they might be trying to avoid doing the hem (they included it in my sale price) and trying to sell me on accessories instead… If I get the added volume with a crinaline, they won’t need to modify the hem……
I don’t know.
When I go back on Sunday I will try:
1) Just the dress, no crinaline or petty-coat of any kind, but with a proper hem. I’ll see if I can walk in it properly without having the dress get in my way (like in between my legs, etc).
2) With the hoop crinaline, sitting, standing and walking
3) With a mermaid slip (petty-coat), sitting, standing and walking.
Hopefully, that makes my decision easier and not harder… Lol!
I am also really hoping my mom will come and help me with the decision… She lives a few hours away…
