Has anyone used a hoop skirt with their mermaid wedding dresses? I want the bottom of my dress to be more poofy but want to know if its even worth getting one. What kind did you get? Pictures of with and without hoop skirt would be greatly appreciated!

I didn’t have a true mermaid, it was more of a fit and flare, but I thought the hoop skirt made a big difference! It looked fuller, but more importantly it kept me from tripping on my dress since it kept the fabric away from my legs and feet. So much more comfortable! I just ordered mine off Amazon, they have a few cheap mermaid hoops.

my dress was more of a trumpet. i bought the hoop skirt not to puff the mermaid skirt out but to keep it from twisting between my legs and tripping me up. i bought it from lightinthebox. they have a selection of hoops and you can use their livechat function to explain to the sales consultant the effect you are going for and a pic of your dress so they can recommend one for you.

I wore a fit n flare and it emphasised the shape – glad I did it, as I wasn’t going to, to start with.

I’d never heard of this before. Great idea for not tripping up on the dress. Are there ones that do this without the poofing effect?
