I’ve been posting a lot lately! So much going on!
This weekend we are going to Nebraska for SO’s grandmother’s 80th birthday party. It’s especially special because she was very sick in December and we didn’t think she would make it. So it’ll be wonderful to see her and the rest of his family again!
A little part of me wonders how many of his family members will ask about us getting married- especially his grandmother (and a little piece of me hopes they ask- within earshot of SO, haha). But I am actually looking forward to it rather than dreading it.
As some of you may have read, SO doesn’t have a steady job right now as he is in the process of applying for government jobs (very time consuming and brutal). SO is one of his grandmother’s only 3 grandchildren, and she loves him dearly. He is the only boy. When she was extremely ill, she called to talk to him, and she asked about us and our plans for the future. Do you see where I am going with this? I’m hoping that maybe she has an heirloom ring that she might like to pass on to him so he could propose.
I know it sounds greedy, but I love vintage rings and the history that goes with them, and it would be such an elegant and wonderful way for things to happen. It would be a solution to the financial issues we’re currently facing and my growing desire to become engaged to him as soon as possible.
I don’t know if she even wants to pass on her ring (or one from a previous generation), but it is sure nice to dream about. She is such a lovely woman, and I would be honored to wear her ring.
