A friend of mine got high quality silk flowers for her wedding, and used an entirely fake flower bouquet and it was BEAUTIFUL! She was able to reuse at her reception in the winter in Minnesota, and not a single person knew the difference. Especially for a destination wedding, it would create so much less stress!

I definitely think it would work, unless, for some reason, the rest of your bouquet includes flowers that will be overtly wilting all over the place in the middle of your wedding.  Since that is highly unlikely and not at all desirable, I think you will be fine in doing this.

My SIL, who was one of my bridesmaids, is allergic to real flowers, so, although I had real flowers at my wedding for everyone else, my SIL’s bouquet, her husband’s (my brother’s) boutonniere, her daughter’s (my niece’s) flower-girl’s pomander, and her son’s (my nephew’s) ring-bearer boutonniere were all made with silk flowers.  It worked fine. 🙂

Also, my bouquet was all real peonies, but I decorated my DIY card cage with silk ones:

I say no because peonies and tulips are my favorite flowers and I find that they are so stunning in person that the fake ones(I have looked at the ones from Michael’s) look, well fake, to me in person.

Have you considered an alternative like a cabbage or garden rose?  Easier to get as they are available year round.  They are also heartier flowers that will last through hot island temps.  My peonies were pretty sad looking after a long day outside with temps in the 80s.

Would you consider replacing peonies with another big, full flower that’s in season in the fall, like dahlias?

I’m sorry, but if this were me I’d find another flower. Fake flowers, not matter what brand, always stand out to me as fake. I am really anti fake flower for myself so that is not something I could do. If you really have your heart set on real flowers I wouldn’t muck it up by adding in fake. That is JMO though, only you know your taste 🙂

I wanted peonies for my wedding as well and my florist suggested Garden Roses! Google them! They are very very very similar to Peonies! Very full and frilly! My wedding is in February when peonies are very hard to find!
