I was hoping to rent a chandelier to hang over the dance floor at our reception. We’re getting married in a ballroom and the dance floor will be directly in the middle. Because we’re getting married in a small town, there aren’t any vendors that rent chandeliers… and if we have someone from out of hte area come in, they charge an arm and a leg!
Anyone have other ideas for lighting over the dance floor that will draw attention and also fit in with a smiple yet elegant reception? PICS would be WAY helpful!

@drakela2: our dj threw huge gobos on the ceiling and it looked fantastic. Any type of uplighting can be very inexpensive and you’ll really get a “bang for your buck” – chandeliers look beautiful but they don’t actually emit enough light to be practical. I strongly suggest par cans and gobos – inexpensive to rent, inexpensive to set up, easy to set up and breakdown and no hassles. I could kiss the ground that we didn’t use china balls/chandeliers. 🙂

Yes! I second gobos! We did a leaf pattern and a monogram and I loooooved it. FYI this pic was taken in the afternoon. By the night time the colors were much more vibrant.
