So, the one thing I am looking forward to the most at my wedding is the hora (after the ceremony and you know, getting married to my beloved ). My goodness do I love a good hora. I’ve only experienced two so far but both were amazing and literally made me burst with happiness. Both of those had live bands, and although no one is busy looking at the band during it, I can see how a live band adds a little something extra. However, I really would only want a live band for the hora set and not much else, nor do I really want or can afford to pay for a band. Will an mp3 hora do the job? Opinions and experiences?

we are having a DJ so I don’t see a problem with having it sans live band. And MP3 I think would be just fine! It’s about the dance, not who is playing it.

At my son’s wedding, a friend of his acted as DJ, and they had a hora.

I’m having a DJ – never even thought about it! It was the same at my bat mitzvah… there are so many tracks now with different versions (long, short). It’ll still sound great!

I went to a bat mitzvah last year that had a DJ…there was plently of good Jewish dancing. 🙂 And when we met with the DJ we’re using, he had a great Jewish medley. So, I think an mp3 would be just fine, as long as it’s a good one.

We didn’t do dancing at our wedding, other then the hora. So we just hooked up our MP3 player to the venue’s speakers and it was fine, nobody was any less excited to do the hora.
