Did anyone do this? how many guest did you have? were people up set? I was thinking of picking 8 different items, the venue offers “butler passed”. I attended a wedding like this BUT it was buffet style it was ok, BUT then I was just a guest and not the BRIDE!!

Yes. This will actually be the second wedding that I’ve done this at. At the first one, we had it at 2:00 in the afternoon and most of ex’s snotty family ate before they showed up so we had tons of food left over.
This time I’m having a 6:00 wedding with food stations. These won’t be traditional hors d’oeurves, but almost mini courses. Basically each station will serve portions that would be 1/4 to 1/3 the size of a dinner portion.

I love snacking so I wouldn’t mind this at all as long as the reception wasn’t during a meal time and there was enough to go around where if someone was hungry they could fill up on that. It’s hard to have fun hungry:) But 8 sounds like a lot to choose from!

We did! Our reception started at 1pm and we served a big appetizer assortment. It was a HIT!
- mini kosher hot dogs with ballpark mustard and ketchup
- diner burger with tomato, onion and pickle chip
- mini mac and cheese bites
- reuben on rye with sauerkraut and housemade thousand island
- classic grilled cheese
- crispy tater tots
- chocolate, strawberry and vanilla mini shakes
Everything was adorable and delicious. I worried that we wouldn’t have enough, but we never ran out of food and received tons of compliments from our guests.

I attended one as a guest with it buffet style. So there was a lot of food…but not real entrees. However there were heavier options there like thai style chicken skewers, bruschetta, etc. I like snacking too and I like trying lots of things so I love these type of meals! Just make sure there is a enough for everyone to eat a full plate of food. Nothing is worse than apps but not having enough to really satisfy people.
Some people prefer to have a real entree though, and some other more traditional people might be hungry I suppose. You might consider putting it on your website if you have one though, that way people know so if they really would like to eat more they could eat some beforehand (depends on when your wedding is). Some people really do like to eat big meals, so I could see how they might feel hungry.
For that reason I’ll probably have entrees even though I love hors doeuvres. I also think those stations are a great idea.
