So typically I am not one to post on forums, but I am a long-term stalker of these boards. 🙂 My recent experience with Dressilyme has been so upsetting and disappointing that I just need some support and let anybody who is considering this company a second opinion.
I had tried on many dresses at bridal shops and loved my experience but everything was way too expensive for me to justify spending it for just one day. Originally I was very skeptical of ordering the most important dress of my life from an overseas company but after reading many reviews and the great feedback from you ladies, I took the plunge. I decided to custom design my dress from two different dresses so it will be more me.
Dress #1- I loved this lace halter top because it was so different from the usual strapless dress and I felt much more comfortable with it. There was not alot of design on the rest of the dress however.
Dress 2- I loooooved the detailing and layering of this dress. I felt like an absolute princess in it!
Both dresses were out of my budget, but I decided to ask Dressilyme if they can use the halter neckline from #1 and the rest of the dress as #2. Their response was, “We are so glad to tell you that we can imitate the dress according to the pictures we attach. What is more, our dressmaker could change the neckline of the dress as picture 1 shown into halter as picture 3 according to your requirement.“
I was so happy when they told me they could make my dress! Even though they charged me $300.96 plus $15 customization fee which is way more than the dresses on their website. Those dresses usually run between $150-$300, but I was giddy with happiness at being able to wear my dream dress.
After 3 weeks, they emailed me pictures of my finished dress and I am completely and utterly devastated. Take a look, Bees.
OMG! The beautiful V-neckline from the original dress has been converted to this funky keyhold shaped neckline! I do not have broad shoulders at all and this wide amount of lace will definitely span my entire width of my chest. In fact, if you look at Dress #1, the lace is already too wide from my underarms to my chest. My dad even said the new dress looked like I have a 2nd set of boobs! Oh god!
I also asked them about the wrinkles of the back of the dress. It seems like the wrinkles are making an “A-shape” down the length of the gown. I emailed Dressilyme asking them about the differences and here is what they said after multiple emails, “As for the neckline, its shape could not be changed now. We feel so sorry about it. If the shape changed to a V shape, the upper part of the dress will be destoryed. However, our dressmakers have put some extra lace at the neckline. You could see that there is more lace on the neckline now than yesterday. You could see the shape of the lace flower. If our dressmakers make the neckline to be the same V neckline, then they have to cut the lace flowers so that it could be like that. However, please kindly note that if the lace is cutted into a straight line, the lace flower will be destroyed.“
WTF? I specifically said I wanted the exact halter top and it’s not my fault they chose a lace that cannot be cut into a V-shape. The dressmakers are supposed to be the experts, not me! They should have chosen the correct lace to begin with. As for the back of the dress, they said “Wrinkles could not be avoided as there is a middle seamline at the back of the skirt. However, after we put the dress down on the floor, the wrinkles is not that outstanding.” Ok, excuse me ladies, how may of you plan on wearing the dress while lying on the floor????
I am still in the process of emailing them and asking for a remake of the dress or a complete refund. At this moment, I am at a complete loss of what to do. Every time I look at the picture of the dress, I just want to cry and am dreading the thought of even trying it on. Any words of advice or support would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for reading my words.
