Do you know any lawyers or law school students?  If so, have them draft up a short, quick, but official sounding cease and desist letter and email it to them.  Chances are, that will shut them up IMMEDIATELY.

In the mean time, save all of the communications and send them to ebay, then block them from emailing you.

Oh, and they can’t “ping” you, they’re full of shit. But if you are nervous, you can call up your internet service provider and ask what they suggest.

I would definitely block them, immediately. Otherwise they might question why you didnt.. Also, you probably need to contact ebay and see what they say from there. You might want to look at your states laws regarding internet and what is said/threatened/etc vie the internet. I know that a lot of states are being progressive about internet threats/bullying/whatnot so maybe theres something specific like that out there for you..

Best of luck, so sorry you have to go through this, its totally unfair!

Report them to ebay, paypal, whatever services you used for the item.  Keep all messages! Print them, and keep still shots off your computer screen and print them too (use PrntScrn key and open up MS Paint then go to Edit and Paste then save the file).

Block them from email and if any go through, report it as spam.

Call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask them about security features like a firewall and find out if your ISP is viewable to outsiders through the firewall.  Only a really good computer geek will know how to “ping” someone and if they really are, DO NOT OPEN ANY EMAILS FROM THEM FROM THIS DAY ON

Hope you get this resolved and I will look them up on ebay.  I NEVER buy from anyone with less than 99% positive feedback (and must be over 1000 feedbacks).

If they have a 100% and only 4 feedbacks means they’re new seller, or old seller who had to remake an account.. which I have seen happen

Really hope this gets straightened out for you!!!

@Keisha In Love:  Oh wow.  How psychotic of them.  I’m sorry you’re going through this.  I’m unsure of the steps to take to make them stop, but I do wish you the best of luck.  Please keep us updated.

You can actually report them to your local FBI- http://www.cybercrime.gov/reporting.htm – see “internet harrassment” and look for your local office. They would have the resources to uncover who these people are. You can also file a report at your local police station. A similar thing happened to a coworker of mine. It’s terrible and unsettling, and I hope they stop threating you!

@Keisha In Love: You should be able to call your local police non-emergency number and explain what happened, and tell them that you feel unsafe because they have your address, and ask taht they circle your street. I’m not sure how often they can do that per day, but it’s worth calling if it makes you feel a little bit safer!

do you have their return address from when they shipped the item to you?

I’d call the police in THAT town and tell them whats going on.  Then you can write a nice little email back to crazypants and let them know the name of the officer you spoke to at their local precinct, and to please direct any further communications to him/her.
