My cat went missing for 3 weeks. I thought he was gone and then one day he just came be-bopping up the drive way. It was the oddest thing. Cats are smart. They know where there food is and they *usually* come back. Is he micro-chipped? Call the vets in your area and make them aware, someone may have turned him in. Good luck!

You may want to try posting an ad with a picture on Craig’s list.  My friend recently lost her dog and searched all over but couldn’t find him.  Someone who works at a local animal hospital found him and looked on craig’s list to see if there was a posting that matched the dog.  When she found my friend’s posting, she called her and the dog got to go home! πŸ™‚  Before this experience, I never knew that people looked on craig’s list for where to return pets but apparently they do sometimes.  Might be worth a try as it’s free…

I am so sorry. I love my two cats and would be distraught as well.

You have done everything you can up to this point. Can you ask neighbors to look out for him and give them a key to your house so they can let him in if they find him?

Can you ask a friend to stay at your place while you are gone to keep an eye out for him?

Awww, that’s tough. He’s such a beautiful kitty too! Recently one of my parents’ cats took off for about a week. He finally came home when it started raining…he doesn’t like being wet. Lefeymw has a great idea, see if someone can stay there so there’s someone to feed him when he comes back!

Def check with local vets and animal shelters to see if he was turned in. I agree that you should get a neighbor or someone agree to keep a look out and let him in your house if they should find him.

I have no advice πŸ™ I’m so sorry, that must be so hard on you guys.

I know of a story in my city where 2 cats went missing after a house fire.  One came back after several days, and one came a couple weeks later.  Well actually he was in the house all along, he had somehow gotten between the drywall and the boards(?) after the firefighters had made holes in the wall to prevent the fire from spreading.

Miracles happen and I hope Oscar comes home soon.  Good luck!

Try Craigslist, old fashion posters with your or your neighbors contact information, and then contact local shelters. I’m so sorry and please keep up updated.

When my cat went missing we put food outside our door but it remained untouched.

It wasn’t until we put food downstairs (we live on the 2nd floor of our apartment building) that he finally showed up.

He got lost when he dove off our balcony (after SO let him out there unsupervised for the first time – yes I was pissed!).

It turned out that he was terrified of the stairs so he couldn’t get back to us until we put his food down by some bushes on the ground level. Then he turned up a few hours later.

@soontobeclose: I wish I could give you a huge hug right now.  I am thinking of you guys. Continue posting signs around your neighborhood and hopefully someone has seen him.  Reach out to local shelters too; maybe someone has picked him up and took care of him there.
