I think I mostly just stayed in a hospital gown during my stay, but I also brought comfy yoga pants and loose fitting tops.

I stayed in my gown for my entire stay. You’re only there for 2-3 days if it’s a vaginal birth and you’re getting checked on by nurses every few hours. I don’t think you need to worry about clothes while at the hospital. You will be focusing on baby and recovery more than anything.

I packed something comfortable to wear home, a nursing bra with nursing pads, and a couple of pairs of maternity underwear. And I ended up wearing the super huge disposable underwear home. I didn’t even wear my own (that sounds so wrong but you’ll see what I mean).

Other items:

Soap

Shampoo

Lotion

Brush/comb

A little makeup for “going home” photos

Shower shoes

Swebs14:  I packed 1 pair of maternity yoga pants, 2 tank tops (not nursing, I don’t have any.. probably won’t buy any before I have her), a nursing bra, undies & socks, a nightgown (I bought a cheapy one I plan to toss after the hospital, I’ve heard a lot of leaking & whatnot goes on so I wanted something I didn’t care about ruining), a zip up sweatshirt and a pair of flip flops. I think that’s plenty, and if I realize I need something else we only live 10 minutes from the hospital, I can have someone run to our house and get me whatever I need. And then I’ll have the outfit I wear to the hospital, so maybe I’ll wear that home.. but I’ll probably just wear home my yoga pants & tank.

TaurianDoll:  I took about 4 packages of the mesh undies from the hospital and used them during my whole recovery. They were amazing!

X0JLYNN03:  the clothes that i wore in were gross by the time i left. lol unless you’re getting induced, you will probably come in leaking. so don’t count on wearing that outfit home.

I have my robe, a black t shirt night gown, two pairs of stretchy pj pants, two nursing tanks, two nursing bras and a nursing sleeping bra. Socks, house shoes and two pairs of large granny panties as well. Also, I’m taking a long black maxi and sweater for my coming home outfit. I made sure to buy only dark colors especially for the bottoms just in case. We will be taking photos before leaving and will have tons of visitors so I don’t plan on staying in my hospital gown after the birth and my shower.

Stayed in my gown. You basically need nothing apart from what you will leave with.

Yes, a couple of cheap nightgowns which fit you comfortably in your 9th month and which open at the top, so you can nurse  if you are planning to. That’s all I needed, even though I packed much more. To be honest, in those first days anything that comes between you and your hungry baby is a nuisance, so ideally, I would have discarded the nighties, too, but in a hospital, it does not always work… I couldn’t bear the thought of a bra during these days and the disposable underwear is all you need. You would ruin any regular underwear, even if you felt like wearing it. A nice home-going outfit is a must – it will probably be one of your maternity dresses. Obviously, pack your toiletries, don’t forget earplugs, especially, if you will be sharing a room.

All I used was my bathrobe, a long tshirt nightgown type thing, and a loose tank with yoga pants. I had no interest in being cute after giving birth.

I came in wearing a baggy t-shirt and yoga pants. While laboring and giving birth I was just in a sports bra or naked. We stayed one day (less than 24 hours) and I wore the gown that was provided and a nursing tank. When we left I wore a different pair of comfy stretchy pants, a nursing tank and a cute flannel shirt over the top. I didn’t pack or need much. Good luck to you!

ETA: I suppose I could’ve worn the clothes I came in but they just seemed grungy….plus I associated them with being in labor and wanted some fresh clothes!

maternity yoga pants and large loose fitting tops, will do the same this time. With all the visitors I did not like being in the hospital gown the whole time. After finally getting a shower it felt great to be in comfortable clothes. As someone else mentioned, I arrived at the hospital leaking so that outfit didn’t make it another day! My water broke at home and I continued to gush the whole way there…. fun times.

I just went to TJMAXX and bought a lightweight robe, large sleep shirt, button front nightgown, and dark PJ pants. I don’t have  extra maternity pants but I plan to throw a stretchy black pair in my bag with a tank/shirt. I still would like a nursing bra. will pack some old underwear too, just in case.
