Ladies i am currently 32.4 and hubby is wanting me to get my hospital bag ready. I still feel like its way too soon to have it packed. Its strange as im usually a very organised person to the point where everything is uaually done way in advace. For example i had most of our wedding planned 12 months out as we had a long engagement. But for some reason for this everytime i think of doing it i become a bit overwhelmed and anxious.
When did you pack your bag and what did you pack?

My water broke early – I had nothing ready – I literally tossed a few things in a bag and went to the hospital. Honestly, it’s not a huge deal even if you take nothing with you. Most people labor in a hospital gown, so all you need is something for you and baby to wear home – and if you don’t have time while leaving for the hospital, your SO can bring them for you before you leave the hospital.
Things I took with me:
* My room had s hot tub, so I took a bathing suit top to wear during labour (trying to preserve a tiny bit of dignity).
* If you want to labour to music an iPod might be a good idea.
* I also had a camera (now your cell phone can work for music and camera / video).
* Take a loose outfit to wear home (I took a loose dress), big granny panties, maxi pads (although the hospital supplies you with pads), a nursing bra, nursing pads (for leaking boobs),
* probably most important to me was the baby outfit I brought the baby home in. It was the same outfit I wore home from the hospital – so it holds great sentimental value. Take a swaddling blanket or two (in case he spits up on one). Also a few baby diapers
I’m sure you can pack most of the stuff in a bag to be ready to go at any time. More importantly is to make sure the car seat is installed properly. Because I went 3 weeks early, we didn’t have the seat installed – so hubby had to install it in the hospital parking lot before they would release baby to go home.

lovesparkles11 : I packed at 30 Weeks, though re-did it when 38 Weeks as I’d not washed the baby’s clothes beforehand

I packed when my water broke. Most likely you will labor at home for a bit and can just pack then. You could literally go to the hospital with nothing but a car seat and be fine! The only things I packed were the stuff I use everyday, plus an outfit for the baby, so unless I bought doubles of all my toiletries and comfy clothes, it made no sense to pack. I barely touched anything in my bag and I was in labor for 36 hours plus a couple days after for a c section.

I packed early the first time out of excitement but this time will probably pack when in early labor. I had a lot of time last time and realized that you don’t actually need much. Toiletries, loose comfy clothes for you, carseat. One thing I would do differently this time is pack more cute onesies for baby to change into while at the hospital, not just a going home outfit. I’d choose clothes like the side tie onesies (wrap style) for baby for ease of slipping it on/taking it off. And little hats if you’d like.
But if you forget anything, you’re bound to have family visitors or your husband would likely go home for a shower anyways so he can grab whatever you may need.

I had my bag packed at 36 weeks. I went into labor this time (3rd baby) at 38.5 weeks. Although I didn’t NEED anything immediately at the hospital, I knew my husband wouldn’t be great at packing the things I wanted later so I did it myself early.

I would pack your bag now. My water broke at 32 weeks. I through stuff in a bag in a rush, because I had to rush to the hospital.

I don’t think I packed until the day before my induction at 39 weeks. Most people, especially first time moms, don’t go into full blown labor in like 10 minutes. You’d have time to throw together a bag if needed.

I think I packed around 35w. Main things were comfy clothes, nursing bra, baby outfit, swaddle blanket. They provide you with most.

lovesparkles11 : I’m 32 weeks as well and don’t plan on packing mine until probably 37 weeks. This is my second, I had my first baby at 39 weeks. I know a couple friends that packed theirs in early labor and it was no big deal. I definitely could’ve packed mine then but I relaxed instead- took a bath, had a snack and watched a movie on my yoga ball before finally waking up my husband.

FTM so haven’t done this before but just offering up what I am doing. I’m packing our bags tomorrow and I am a few days past 36 weeks.
I’m packing two outfits for baby because I don’t know how the weather will be (spring in MN), a few nursing bras, comfy PJ’s/clothes for in the hospital, flip flops for the shower/walking around, a pair of slipper socks, my boppy pillow, a bluetooth speaker (my hospital has a dock but not sure it would work with my phone), light reading materials, my birth plan.
For hubby extra change of clothes, snacks, any entertainment he thinks he may need (but he will be busy 🙂
I’m sure there is more but this is off the top of my head!

I will also note our carseat is already installed so we will grab that on the way out the door as well!
I’m also bringing a cooler because I am keeping my placenta for encapsulation

I packed at 34 weeks because my mom had all her children a month early, so I was being careful. I didn’t end up going into labor until the day before I was due BUT I had a crazy fast labor. We had to left for the (very close) hospital 20 mins after my water broke and I was still already 8 cm when I gotbthere! If I hadn’t been packed, no matter when I went into labor, I would not have had time or been physically able to pack during early labor.

I was 36 weeks when it was finished but I’d been gathering bits before.
