@icetea:  My mom loves Coach bags, so that’s what I got her (we live next to a Coach outlet store so this works perfectly).  See if they have a favorite designer and get them accessories (i.e. ipad/iphone cases, clutches, keyrings, jewelry, etc).  Or you could pamper them with a spa treatment (this gets pricey though).

Traditionally the thank you for Hostesses isn’t very elaborate… an arrangement of flowers / plant or perhaps wine delivered after the event.  Although inviting them out to lunch, dinner or to a show / concert (or sending tickets) is also common.  Such gifts should also be accompanied by an Enclosure Card and the wording can be simple and straight forward… “Thanks for a Wonderful Shower” OR “With Thanks & Love…xxox”

A more complete Thank You Card with more info can be sent on as a follow up.

I get that for some people, lux is a big deal (sad tho that they are so competitive… as that certainly makes your job tougher).  Maybe you can tell us what exactly your Mom & Aunt are interested in…

Hmmm… don’t necessarily do brands…

But maybe they would if they could…

The trick may be indeed finding out what Designers they might think would be cool to own (example IF they were into Coach, as the other Bee suggested… you don’t have to spend a fortune to get something with that logo on it from one of their Outlet Stores)

Or if they are / were into Oprah for example… selecting something for them off her “Favourite Things List” for example… items that certainly many consider luxurious… and would to own if they had a few extra dollars to spend.

Wine is kind of hard because it is subjective, sort of like food (everyone having different taste-buds)

GOLD is somewhat expensive… but can certainly give you a lot of choices.  The advantage there is jewellery goes on SALE regularly… I subscribe to the Peoples / Zales Websites, and get updates weekly… and they always seem to have some great gold jewellery at good prices (my current dilemma is WHICH earrings that are on Sale should I break down and buy… in that there are so many pretty ones to choose from)

Lol, ya I know… first world problem.

Sounds like you are on the right track.

Indeed the biggest challenge in gift giving is trying to find out WHAT exactly the other person is into.
