Ok, so I know what I am getting the people throwing my two showers, BUT i’m not sure what i should do about the thank you note. Should I write the thank you note before I get there and put it with the gift, or wait until later so I can include specifics like the blank was so beautiful/tasty/etc. I could put a simple thank you with the gift and then send a better thank you later. What did everyone else do? Also, if my shower is thrown by someone that I don’t know well, what should I say? I don’t want to be really generic, but I don’t have much of a relationship with my fiance’s sister.

I wrote mine after the shower. You can mention specifics about the food/decorations/games/gifts, whatever.

I’m actually having my shower today. I wrote a thank you note for hosting and talked about how grateful I was to have the hosts involved in the planning and how thankful I was for their friendship. I’m bringing each of the 2 hosts the thank you card (a personalized card I picked out) and a box of handmade chocolates from a friend who makes chocolates. For my friend whose house we’re having it at, I wrote a similar thank you note with a package of tea blended by a teashop owner friend (she’s a big tea drinker). I figured that I would be writing additional thank yous for the gifts, so I wanted to give the thank you for hosting at the time of the event.

@amyj1276: Ok, thanks! I want to put a thank you in with the gift, but I wasn’t sure if I should wait, so that I can include specifics about what they actually did for the shower. I will do two, then!
