We rented a cabin at Letchwork State Park in New York for our honeymoon. There is a hot air balloon company there that does rides twice a day. I keep saying “we should do that!” Neither of us is like panic-attack-freak-out scared of heights, but 2,000 feet in the air in a basket would make anyone nervous I think!
So last night I just said eff it, we’re doing it. I paid for the certificate, called this morning and booked our ride for July 1st. AHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I so wanted to ride in a hot air balloon on our honeymoon, but it was too much money. Some day we will!

My Fiance surprised me with a hot air ballon ride right after we got engaged. It was amazing, especially since it was when all the leaves had turned. He even had our photogpraher come with us to take pictures. I’m not a big height fan but you don’t even notice when you are up there, they do tell you not to look down though!

@MelBan: Beautiful 🙂
On their website, they said you don’t feel movement when you’re in the balloon, as opposed to on a boat, so people don’t tend to get sick. Was that your experience?

@pmerr: It was pricey :/ $490 for the two of us. But our cabin was only $270 for the week, so I’m okay with the splurge 🙂

Darling Husband and I have been saying we wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride for a few years because there’s a large annual balloon festival near us, so last year we finally did! And we loved it! I’m not a huge fan of heights, but the only slightly scary part was the take off. It was amazing. Totally recommend it to anyone who is at all interested.

@MrsBlah: yayayayayay! You will have a blast. I voted yes, because I have always wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride, preferably on our honeymoon. But we can’t justify the $500 :C we live near the Smoky Mountains so we will do it there someday or on one of our many other trips (we are big travelers) but YOU are so right to have faced your fear and booked it 😀 especially when you got such a sweet deal on a cabin. Have fun!!

@MrsBlah We didn’t feel any motion sickness at all. They were more worried about us being nervous about being so high up. Of course when they told us not to look down what was the first thing I did? It was very high up there but for some reason it didn’t affect me. The only part that was rough was the landing but even that was not to bad!
