ok ladies… if you make sauerkraut on the stove do you have to put the hot dogs in with it or can they be boiled sepertaly… future husband and I are having a disagreement about this one. I normally put it in a roaster with a pork roast but he wanted just hot dogs and didnt have enough time to put it in the crockpot…. winner buys the other dinner…

My family usually fries the hot dogs, or boils them, then fries up a little sauerkraut. You don’t have to do them together, but you can if you want.. I don’t think you boil sauerkraut though. You’re just trying to warm up the sauerkraut not actually cook it.

I’ve never had hot dogs with sauerkraut, but I have had kielbasa or pork roast with sauerkraut. With kielbasa, I’ve seen in cooked separate or together. If it’s on the stove, I’ve seen it cooked separately. With pork roast, I’ve only seen it cooked together in the oven/ crock pot.
