I have had my wedding colors picked out since before engagement was on the table, I knew I wanted pink (my signature color) and black. It was simple, clean and most importantly me. 🙂 I told my sister and she agreed that it was ‘so me’. The other day we went to look at bridesmaid dresses and since she is my Maid/Matron of Honor she is wearing pink while the rest wear black. She told the lady helping us to pull a pink one for her but showed her a bright pink color, I told her I was going for more of a light rose pink. Now don’t get my wrong, I love my hot pink! About 90% of the pink things I own are hot pink. However when it comes to my wedding I feel a lighter pink is more fitting. I can’t look at bright pink and black without it screaming Sweet Sixteen. I told my Fiance about the misunderstanding and he said that hot pink was more ‘me’ as well. It’s weird my e ring is a natural pink sapphire and depending on the lighting it can be a bright bubble gum or a pale rose pink. When it’s at it’s palest I’m the happiest, maybe it has something to do with looking back in 20 years and regretting the hot pink, I feel rose is just more timeless but they have me second guessing myself. My sister later told me she planned on having a bright watermelon pink as one of her colors when/if she gets married and she’s 9 years older so I think she was offended. However she plans on a Spring/Summer wedding and I told her bright colors are just different in those Seasons, that I like the bright colors then. So any way…I’m confused. Stick to my vision or go with the more ‘me’ color?

Stick with your vision! Definitely 🙂

I always think of the hot pink and black as a bit younger/promish looking combo if that makes sense.
To me rose pink and black has a more sophisticated ala Chanel look. I do not want to offend anyone that has gone with the hot pink/black combo – it is just my opinion.

As far as colors go I prefer a rose pink. But against black that hot pink really pops. I did vote for the rose, but that is a tough decision.

I have been to two amazing weddings with a damask (black and white) and hot pink theme and they are so lovely. However, rose pink and black is lovely too.
I think you should go with what you feel is right for your wedding. Do you have an overall theme or idea that you want to run with (regardless of colors)? One might lend itself to your theme depending on what it is you have envisioned.

I would go with what fits you, especially since it matches your ring. IMO, hot pink looks better with black, but it does SCREAM sweet sixteen.
I think venue can also play a big part in your decision.

@Treejewel19: No specific theme, just a pop of birds and branches (cake topper, birdcage centerpieces, our flutes and a few other smaller things) here and there but no real theme. I thought about damask but it was just going to be too busy for what I have planned.

@gingerlylove: I didn’t think about that. Our venue is a hitsoric plantation and most of the ceremony and reception will be outside. So with that in mind I thibnk the rose pink would flow a lot better and look more natural with the surroundings we have.

@ShutterbugCait: Just reading what you description I say rose pink all the way. I cannot see how hot pink would fit in with those elements.

ok i am the odd ball out here! but i would go for the hot pink and black! definitely more fun 🙂 i can see why you would think that its too sweet 16ish, but if you do it right, it can look so cute!
heres a picture 🙂
here is a website that i found online from the bride above and her hot pink/black wedding.. although i would change one thing, put the guys in ALL black with only a hot pink tie.. her guys in pink vests, definitely did make that part look sweet 16ish :/ beautiful wedding though!
