I started doing some hot yoga classes this week. I’m starting to work on lossing weight for the wedding so I’m trying to eat better and be more active and do more things to burn calories and loose weight.
Will hot yoga help me to loose weight? I sweat a ton so I feel like I’m getting a good workout. Plus my legs are sore afterwards. I know it’s good for me no matter what, and I’ll keep doing it, but I need to know if it’s something I can use as a workout or if I need to do it in addition to a workout.

I did hot yoga about two months before my wedding. I think it definitely helped tone and lengthen my limbs! I didn’t weigh myself during this time because I think it would have made me crazy, but I am sure I lost a little weight. My arms definitely looked more toned.
If you have time, I would incorporate a little more exercise, like light jogging or cycling. More cardio will help you lose weight but the yoga will defnitely tone.

Hm, I’ve never heard of hot yoga. Anyone care to explain?

@Rouquine: Hot yoga is done in a room typically 100-105degrees and VERY humid. You are encouraged to not leave the room during the class, but are free to drink water/lay down if you’re feeling faint.
I did hot yoga once and it was the longest 1 1/2 hours of my life. lol However, as miserable as I was during the class, I felt great afterwards.

@JsDragonfly: I figured it was something of that nature. Thank you!
Not sure I could handle that. Sounds icky. Hah

I only do an hour class, I’m not sure I could handle 90 minutes.
I sweat more than I’ve ever sweated in my life. At very least I figure I’m strengthening muscles and sweating out toxins.
I also started the c25k running program this week, so I am doing that for cardio. And I’ve been lifting some little 5lb weights to work on toning up my arms.
I’ve got 11 months, and I’m determined to look at my wedding pictures and be happy with the way I look instead of disappointed I didn’t do more before the big day.

I loved the concept, but just couldn’t get past the smell of the room 🙁
