I was an avid hot yogi before I got pregnant. The doctor said it was fine during TTC, but as soon as I got pregnant, hot yoga was absolutely off the table during the entirety of pregnancy. I’m assuming it is for the same reasons as avoiding hot tubs/saunas.

I would check with your doctor to see what he says.

You can’t do it when you’re pregnant. There is a large concern about your body over heating and causing miscarriage and/or developmental issues with the baby. My yoga instructor asks actually at the beginning of every class if you are or could be pregnant and advises that you leave and take her other classes where heat is not involved.

My sister’s been taking hot yoga, and my mom went with her yesterday.  My mom said she felt like she was going to throw up and pass out.  I’d wait until after baby!  Great way to get rid of all the toxins in your body also, i’m looking forward to taking it to get into shape again 🙂

my doctor was super lax about a lot of things, but he said hot yoga was a no-no. Which sucked because right before i got pregant, i got 2 separate groupons for 25 hot yoga classes and i  never got to do a single one  🙁   (luckily i was able to sell the more expensive one for 20 classes)

Yeah I would think that it can also make you a little light headed because you become dehydrated.  So that would be a concern.  I was doing pilates and have always been fine but the first time I went to my session I got sick half-way through.  My instructor even knew I was prego so we weren’t doing anything hard.  So best to becareful when excersing you just react differently.
