Do the first option

  • Set up a second block at a hotel ten minutes from our hotel and 20 mins from the venue and have guests still meet at our hotel for the shuttle if they want a ride

I would also see who books at 2nd hotel and maybe consider another shuttle?

Also the shuttle is a very nice thing, but is not completely mandatory. Guests at the second hotel can always stay sober and drive or get an uber if they want.

Also…dont pay for anyones breakfast lol.

Maybe it’s just me but if both hotels are your room blocks and the shuttle is only going to the first one (which booked up before most guests even know it existed) that seems a bit…odd.  Any time I’ve gone to a wedding that had more than one room block and a shuttle, the shuttle went to both.  If it were me I’d ditch breakfast (unless everyone already knows about it) and pay more money to have the shuttle go both places instead, especially if it seems the drinking crowd will be at the second hotel.

No, don’t just let your guests fend for themselves. If they’re coming in from out of town the absolute least you can do is give them information for local accomodations.

brunettebride2018 :  I don’t think “blocks” are common where I am,  I’ve always had to source my own accomodation and transport so i dont think you should stress!

Don’t put the full block on your invites – you know that would just waste your guests time.  I would ask the shuttle if they can go between the two hotels (surely that wouldn’t cost much more?) Or ask the second hotel if they have a shuttle, or leave it entirely for guests to source accomodation + transport.

I’m sorry why can’t adults sort out their own accomodation and breakfast? Tell them about local hotels and then let them sort it out. Add a few taxi numbers for good measure if you like.

Honestly, I would just cancel the shuttle altogether rather than arranging a shuttle to go only to the one hotel that filled up before invitations even went out.

Going to a wedding with no shuttle? Perfectly normal; I can arrange my own transportation.

Going to a wedding where there’s a shuttle only for the “important” guests who got in on the hotel booking before invitations went out? I’d be annoyed.

BookishBee :  Agreed. If both hotels are within 20 minutes of the venue, people can take a lyft or uber.
