Slight predicament. Our ceremony is scheduled to start at 3pm. Today we found out the earliest our guests can check in to the closest hotel is 3pm. We have a lot of guests coming from out of town and are concerned when they’ll be able check in due to the ceremony being the same time. Has this happened to anyone else? Thoughts? Thank you!

Same situation here. Ceremony is @ 4:00, check in is at 4:00. My hotel will take the guests belongings and hold them/put them in their rooms until after the wedding, they themselves cannot access the room until then. Check w/ the hotel.

If you’re booking a block of rooms, they might be able to do something, either put a rush on cleaning those rooms so guests can have an early check in, or hold your guests belongings and have them put in their rooms after check in, or even just hold their belongings until guests are able to check in. Depending on where your ceremony and reception are, and how big of a gap, guests might be able to check in between the two?

How far away are the guests coming? If it just the next town over 9or less than an hour or two) then I don’t think it is much of an issue especially if the hotel is willing to let them checkin and hold/put their stuff in the rooms when ready. If they are coming further than that then they would probably need early checkin to get ready (I wouldn’t want to sit in formal wear for a three or four or more hour car drive) but as a guest I would probably come in the night before so that I didn’t have to rush and in case of emergency (like a flat tyre/breakdown).
I would talk to the hotel to ask about priority on early checkin for your guests, then let the guests know (as in first in best dressed) and leave it to them to book an early checkin if they want it.

I have the same sort of issue. I was thinking that my guests could come to the venue for the ceremony, and go check into the hotel between the ceremony & reception (the hotel is about 6 minutes away)… that way they can also relax and chill out for a bit while we get our pictures taken.

We talked to the hotel and they agreed to open up the rooms an extra 2 hours early for $15 a pop. We will pay them the difference for those that check in early.

3pm checkin in normal – sometimes if the room is ready you can checkin early but there is no guarantee. if you have a block of rooms i would ask if something can be done

Thank you everyone, I appreciate your input! We are going to contact the hotel again to see if they’re willing to make any exceptions and allow guests to have a slightly earlier check in if rooms are available.

We spoke to the management at the hotel and they let us and our guests check in at 12pm instead of the regular 3pm. I suggest talking to them!

Great, thanks!! Hopefully that’ll work in our favor! 🙂

Call and ask the hotel. Usually check out is at 11 or 12 the latest so it’s just a matter of getting the rooms clean. If the hotel is not sold out the night before and they have rooms that are clean, they will usually allow you an early check in
