Well, there is a big difference b/tw Mandalay Bay and Excalibur.  What kind of a trip are you wanting to have?  Are you wanting to spend a lot of time in the hotel where you’re staying, or will you be out and about most of the time?  I usually don’t care much where I stay on the Strip, b/c I’m usually only in my room a few hours a day.  But that might not be the case with your honeymoon 🙂

I would pay way more to NOT stay @ the Excalibur.  Location really doesn’t matter in Vegas anymore…the tram is fantastic.  There are a few hotels I would never stay at in Vegas and Excalibur is one of them.

I’m with Redbull.  I’ve stayed at Excalibur and it was….well, icky.  I don’t think I would stay there no matter how cheap it was.  On the other hand, I love Mandalay Bay.  The rooms are great and the pool area is one of the best on the strip.  It’s also a whole different type of clientèle in the hotel/casino and the pool.

I would look around a bit more for different deals.  Great deals are always popping up for Vegas hotels.  Last summer we stayed at the Wynn for $100 a night!  it’s definitely worth looking a little harder.  Especially because I see you still have some time to book it.

I would stay at the Luxor or Mandalay Bay LONG before I’d even consider Excaliber.  Those hotels aren’t even on a comparable level with one another.  Although I agree – look for Vegas hotel deals (including outside of just those three).  Some of the really nice hotels are ofter running deals of some sort!

Mandalay Bay and Excalibur really aren’t comparable. I would definitely, without hesitation, spend the extra money for MB. The experience will be head and shoulders above Excalibur and this is your honeymoon!

I’ve walked through Excalibur and it is….yucky. Think: a place that drunk frat guys would choose to crash.

I’ve stayed at MB (for my MOH’s wedding last year) and it was quite nice.

I vote for Mandalay Bay as well. Again, no comparison to Excalibur. I understand the cost difference is significant and you don’t have to listen to us when you spend your money. If it makes more sense for you to spend less than you should. I could think of better hotels though that would probably be around the same cost (Flamingo, Ballys) that are nicer than Excalibur though. This is your honeymoon and not just a typical Vegas trip – maybe you should consider splurging this one time?

Check out MGM or NYNY. They are both also in that general area and are really nice/reasonably priced- MGM especially. The pool area is fantastic and the guest rooms were beautiful!

Stay at Mandalay…it’s your honeymoon!  I don’t think of Excalibur as “yucky”, I think of it’s as bursting with kids and families, not what I would be looking for on my honeymoon.  Mandalay has everything and it’s my favorite pool!  Splurge this one time, the difference is not totally ridiculous.

Personally, I would stay at Mandalay Bay.  You may not spend a lot of time in your room, but the hotel amenities at MB are SOOOOO much better than at Excalibur.  The pool is better, the restaurants are better, and there are some nice shops there.  Both are kinda far from the more popular casinos/Strip destinations/clubs, so you are probably going to have to take a cab/Deuce/lightrail to move around anyway (ETA: so a hotel that is slightly further won’t make that much of a difference).
