for swanky sydney habour my first thought is the Shangri La at Circular Quay/the Rocks – its right on the water and overlooks the Opera House or the Quay Grand Suites Sydney

otherwise Darling Habour is about 20mins walk away and the casino (at darling harbor) has accomododation or the Sebel Pier One,

what are your flight arrival/departure times as a hotel near the airport might be a smarter choice due to cost and traffic

have you looked at wotif.com.au as well??

I went to a conference for work at the Sebel…the view is pretty nice! The Intercontinental at Circular Quay is also pretty nice, and easy location-wise to get to Darling Harbour/the Rocks/Opera House etc.

If you want to stay right on the Harbour, maybe the Hilton? Though last time I was down that way (a couple of months ago) it looked like some fairly extensive renovations were going down. There’s always the Novotel, but it’s not really that swanky, more of a business hotel.

I agree with

eloping in that, depending on your flight time, it may just be easier to stay near the airport that night. You won’t have the view but you’ll get some more sleep! Maybe try the Stamford (though if the one in the city is anything to go by, the styling is unlikely to be minimalist), or the Holiday Inn?

We’ve stayed at Sebel Pier One for our anniversaries and it will be wear I’m getting ready for our wedding so i can’t recommend there enough if you’re after swanky and an awesome location for the night. It is pretty expensive in my opinion though so it depends on your budget

@nephthysa: I stayed at the Hilton a few years ago and if you’re after a nice bathroom, our room had a double bathtub right up against the windows so you could look out over the city as you soaked in the tub (people can’t see in the windows 😉 apparently… haha.)

It’s nice and it’s literally a few hundred metres up George St from the Harbour. Great spot. Good night life 🙂

Park Hyatt. Some japanese royalty just spent millions upgrading the place. Apparently most rooms have full view of the Harbour.

I’m staying there the night after my wedding reception!
