We reserved a block of rooms and just asked who wanted a room and kind of did a guesstimate. The only thing with our hotel was, if all the rooms didn’t get booked we have to pay the difference after the wedding.

we reserved a block of rooms. Guests are paying for it themselves. The hotel gave us a code for the guests to use to book the room and get the negotiated/discounted rate for the wedding.

We put the hotel info up on the wedding website. We also listed other hotels in the area if they wanted somewhere else.

@Caila:  We just reserved a block of rooms at the hotel last week including one for ourself. THis hotel does not have a minimum and they ave us a due date that they need a final number by aprox 3 weeks before the wedding.

You don’t pay for it. They do when they book.

Some hotels give you a discount if all that you set aside reserve.

@Caila:  We requested a block of 20 rooms… the guests get to pick which kind they want. A month before the date, any rooms not booked are “set free”. We did not give any money, the guests does when they book.

We figured with distance most guests would want one. With both hotels, we have a total of 40 rooms for 160 guests. At both hotels they will free the room so if the guests changes their mind no problem. If they pay for a room and then change their mind it is on them as they are charged.

We have 2 hotels… 1 at the ceremony site and one at the Budget Inn. The ceremony rooms range from 125-200 and Budget in starts at 89. we wanted to give options.

Hope that helps!

1. Do the guests pay for their rooms and I just resverve them? Or do we pay for it?
– The guests pay for their own rooms

2. How did you ask/find out from your guests if they want to get a hotel room?
– Our wedding is a semi-destination (about an hour away) so we figured that pretty much everyone will drive out there and need a room

3. What happens if guests say they want a room, you save them one, but then they change their mind?
– The hotel blocks off a certain # of rooms, then the guest goes ahead and reserves it like they normally would. If they don’t use it they still pay the cancellation fee

4. Did you give “options” on hotels they could choose from or was it just one?
– Since our reception is at the hotel we only blocked off rooms at that hotel. They are free to stay whereever they would like but that hotel is the only one with a lower room rate.

i reserved a block of 20 rooms at a discount.  this was the highest they would give me without a monetary committment from me.  my wedding is october 19, i have the rooms reserved with the discount until sept 6 (6 weeks prior), hotel policy, then they go back in the hotel’s pool of rooms.  guests who haven’t reserved their room yet, may not be able to get the discount.
