I’m hoping to book our honeymoon in the next 3 days and I’m wondering if you have hotel recommendations for the following stops:
Rome, Florence, Venice, Almafi (by the beach)
It’s our honeymoon so we’re okay with spending up to $400 p/n (however, an awesome hotel for less is also appreciated!).
I would appreciate any/all recommendations! I really want to check this block. I’m also doing some searches on previous posts.

Last Christmas, we stayed at the Grand Hotel Baglioni in Florence. I remember it being fairly reasonably priced, and it was really nice. I recommend it!

A few years ago we went to Italy with my fiance’s family, and we stayed in really great hotels! In Venice, I’d highly recommend Locanda Orseolo – it’s two blocks from St. Mark’s Square, and it’s gorgeous. The staff there are amazing, too. We went to Positano on the Almalfi coast, and stayed at Covo dei Saraceni – it’s right on the beach, with incredible views of the coast from all sides. Best wishes for a fabulous honeymoon!

I don’t know if you are going to capri when down by the amalfi coast, but if you are I highly suggest hotel luna on capri. I stayed there and it is amazing and affordable.
I also really suggest that you do go to capri, great honeymoon location. It may be my favorite destination in the world to visit with victoria falls coming in as my close second….

We loved our hotels in both Venice and Florence.
This was located in one of the oldest piazza’s in Florence– super close to the Accademia. Very nice, historical, great breakfast and they gave us champagne for our honeymoon. 🙂
We stayed at the Dona Palace in Venice. http://www.donapalace.it/ It was located just on the edge of St. Mark’s Square, and our room faced the Bridge of Sighs. Breakfast was very nice and our room was the largest I’ve seen in Europe, heck for most hotel rooms. We also got a jacuzzi tub.
Both of these rooms were around 160 euro a night, I believe. Out of the 5 cities we visited on our honeymoon, these were the nicest. Have fun!

If you don’t already use tripadvisor.com it is a great resource for hotel reviews. I use it all the time 🙂

If you really want a splurge in Rome, I can recommend http://www.romecavalieri.com I was there for work but it is quite expensive and outside of the city so the views of the city are really amazing, you may want to consider this for one night if you can fit it into your budget. The lobby is an art gallery and the restaurants are insane.
I’ve also stayed at the Bernini Bristol in Rome http://www.summithotels.com/summit/hotels/index.aspx?src=2605338&id=42428 This is a nice hotel with a central location in walking distance to many places you’ll want to go. They were undergoing a major renovation when I was there in 2008.
I’ve also stayed here: http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/ROMAPTW-Hilton-Rome-Airport-hotel/index.do and while it has all the comforts and amenities of a Hilton including a nice outdoor pool, it is far from everything and you’re be better off staying in the city and putting the cab fare you’ll save toward the more expensive room.
I really like http://www.hrs.com for booking hotels in Europe.

@Coloradolov: Hotel Luna on Capri is great! We stayed in a holiday Villa in Positano which was pricey, through Emma Villa’s, it was not suitable for a honeymoon though as it was a big house.
We were in Rome in October 2010 and In Rome, I would definately suggest Hotel Nazionale, right near the Pantheon, 5 mins walk to the Trevi and Spanish Steps. Also, free breakfast every day!
Suggestion for when you go to the Sistine Chapel – book in advance online – then you still have to wait in line, but it is like 3km shorter than the regular line! Also, get there early, like at least 8am (latest 8:30am).
Another tip – early morning at the Trevi Fountain is best – before 9:30am and there is no one there!

@Nati-Lyte: Did you see the movie The Tourist? (Jolie and Depp) It was filmed in Venice the same time we were there for our honeymoon and did a great job of capturing the landscape. We stayed at the Westin near St. Mark’s Square. Gorgeous! 🙂 Don’t forget to tell them you’re honeymooners.

We went to Italy on our honeymoon too, and we stayed in Rome at the Residenza Ki. If you are looking for a place that will give you a giant room and room service, this isn’t your place, but we got the perfect room at $98 a night, including breakfast and A/C. It’s super close to almost everything and right off of the metro. The staff was beyond helpful and would go out of their way to give recommendations, make you the perfect drink in the morning, etc. When we go back to Italy, we’re staying there again.

Oh, I’m so glad! 🙂 You’re going to love it! The best part is when you eat breakfast in the morning. There’s a small door in the dining room that opens up right to the canals, so you get to watch the gondolas glide by at your feet. It’s also fun to watch the working gondolas deliver boxes of Coke or wine or whatever to all the local hotels and restaurants first thing in the morning. Wish I was there right now…. have a great trip!

I lived in Naples for 3 years when I was in High School… Your profile says Iraq… are either of you military? If so, You might try staying on one of the bases in the BOQ for cheap rooms and car rental… then go sight seeing from there.
I definitely suggest going to Capri and any of the other islands if you can! If you go to Capri, see the Blue Grotto. It’s beautiful! But bring extra cash, as you are expected to tip quite a few times so the cost of taking a little gondola out there with an italian guy singing to you adds up pretty quick. But it’s worth it!
Good luck on your honeymoon!
