I have a lot of guests who are coming from out of town for my wedding, so I’m now in the process of looking for hotels near the venue to set up room blocks.
My question is, do you think I need to arrange transportation between the hotel and the venue? Right now the hotels I’m looking at are very close to the venue – 0.3 miles, about a 5-7 minute walk, or super-quick cab ride. Venue/Hotels are all in manhattan, so there are plenty of cabs available if people don’t want to walk. Do you think I need to set up a van/bus from the hotel to the venue anyway? Or is that something I can skip, and people will find their own way?

I think you can skip transportation in an urban situation like that! we did, for the most part, for our DC wedding which was similarly close. we did have one bus, I think it sat like 20, for the bridal party and anyone that we knew had mobility issues. otherwise, we left the guests to their own devices

I would say if you have a lot of guests who have traveled for you, in particular older relatives, it would be much easier for all of them to just get on a bus and be done with it.

It’s NYC, they can get a cab. There will most likely be cabs available right outside the hotel at all times and older guests can have the bellman get one for them. Don’t waste your money on a bus in the city. There are all kinds of logistical problems (where will it park?) with hiring one.
