I’ve stayed at Ceasar’s Palace, Flamingo, Rio, and New York New York.  Out of them Caesar’s was the nicest but the food was outrageous, the Rio’s rooms are nice but it’s off the strip, NY NY had nice rooms and good food, plus I love the roller coaster there, and the Flamingo has nice rooms in the remodeled section, the foods OK but it’s a good location on the strip.  We go to Vegas a couple times a year so we’ve stayed in a bunch of places.

I’ve stayed at the Sahara and NY NY (but been inside almost all the others on the strip). And I definitely recommend NY NY above all! Prices are great compared to other “nice” hotels on the strip, too.

My family stayed at the bellagio a couple of years ago and raved about it. we’re going to the Venetian as part of our honeymoon in about 3 weeks so I’ll tell you what that was like once i’m back

I’ve stayed at Ceasar’s Palace and Trump and both were nice.  Trump is at the end of the strip though which would be a con for some.  I really liked that it didn’t have a casino so that when we went back for the night it was calm and quiet.  No need to wander through the crowded casino floor.

It totally depends on your budget.  If I could pick any place in Vegas, I would stay at the Bellagio, Wynn, or Encore.  However, I usually have a smaller budget, and I’ve stayed at TI, Flamingo, and Mirage.  I wouldn’t recommend TI, Flamingo is cool if you’re on a tight budget, and I loveeedd the Mirage.  Their pool is awesomesauce.

@Mrs.KMM:  Another nice thing about the Trump is that it is a non-smoking hotel! (and being right across the street from the Fashion Mall is not  a bad thing.)

Mirage was my favorite more budget friendly hotel.

The Palazzo was gorgeous and has access to many pools and other hotels very easily, but its not so budget friendly http://www.palazzo.com/. The rooms were more like  suites and very classy.

The tropicana has been reno’d and is a smaller hotel that is pretty decent  with affordable food choices and right across the street from MGM and many other hotels.

The Aria has been hands down my favorite. It’s next to the Bellagio and was AWESOME.

I stayed at the Stratosphere. It was nice but a little too far away from the strip..you had to take a bus to get to the the strip cause walking was way to hot in the desert in August!

I stayed at the Bellagio, Cosmopolitan both were great. My favorite Budget I stayed in was The Luxor but make sure you stay in the tower. Their prices are awesome.
