So, Fiance and I are starting our European honeymoon in Paris!! Wee! But, we need a place to stay that is romantic, in a good neighbourhood, and NOT EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE! We want to splurge a little, because it is our honeymoon after all, but … I think top price would be 2-20 CAD per night max. We will be staying there 2-3 days before moving on to south of France or Barcelona.
I need help from you Bees! Has anyone ever gone, or know any great hotels to recommend?? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Just an aside, We are honeymooning in June. Yep, Tourist season.

We stayed at the Mercure Paris Eiffel. Most European hotel rooms that we saw were pretty sparsely decorated/modern and smaaaaaall but the lobby and service there were pretty nice. I booked on Priceline and it was around $500 for three nights at the end of May.
ETA: In Barcelona we stayed at a couple hotels as well. One was nicer/cheaper/more out of the way, and one was slightly more expensive and older, but right on Las Ramblas. I’d say it’s definitely worth the sacrifice to get a better location with more atmosphere in Barcelona for sure. Unfortunately in Europe $220/night is still fairly budget…

@Nic01: I was going to recommend AIRBNB too!
We just got back from our honeymoon in Paris and London. We stayed at two places in Paris and one in London all from AIRBNB. It was a great experience and about half the price of the hotels in the same area. Plus we had the benefit of feeling really French! My husband was a little skeptical but in the end he agreed it was the way to go!

I loved the neighborhood around Hotel Motte Picquette. The staff was extremely friendly and amazing!
Just an FYI – hotel rooms in Paris are SUPER small compared to US standards…it might be a shock when you walk into a small room, but there is so much to do in Paris you wont be spending too much time indoors!

@baletrina: Hey, do you happen to have the links for the places you stayed? I’m doing a little research for my honeymoon!

@carnivaltheme: Do you have a hotel yet in the south of France? I went there on my honeymoon and can recommend anything you’d like to know! Where specifically, though? We stayed in Nice and our hotel was literally close to EVERYTHING! It was perfect and affordable!

@claudia_whf: Here you go! Just a reminder that Paris flats are VERY small and there are no showers. But you can’t beat the price or the charm. 🙂

@Nic01: Whoa, that is AMAZING! I wish I had found that!!
Our place is pretty great that we got though, I can’t wait! Right in the middle of the 4th arondissement, on the Right Bank.
We also used homeaway.com and booked an awesome flat in Nantes, France as well as one in Brussels!
