@lmr216:  I haven’t been there, but I did work the complaint/emergency desk for a large travel agency for a long time. Marriot FMR is one of the most popular resorts on the island with a long history and a good reputation. Personally, I’d stay on the Morning Star side as I received fewer complaints about those rooms.

TO @lmr216:  If you haven’t already be sure and check out the Reviews on TripAdvisor.

http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g147405-d148175-Reviews-Marriott_Frenchman_s_Reef_Morning_Star_Beach_Resort-Charlotte_Amalie_St_Thomas_U_S_Virg.html

And be sure you register to be a Marriott Loyalty Program (Marriott Rewards) BEFORE you book.  That might make some differences for Reservations & Check In (hotels usually give their best available accommodations to their Loyalty Club Members).

And be sure to tell EVERYONE it is your Honeymoon… many places will give you FREEBIES for that (like Room Upgrades, Cocktails, Appys, Desserts, Souvenirs and such)

Hope this helps,

I’ve stayed at the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef twice, with family, and we LOVE it there. It has a lovely pool and private beach…and a GREAT view of the Virgin Islands. You’ll love it!

Oh–and there are iguanas everywhere, which I thought was very cool. However, word of advice: don’t wear red toenail polish. The guests feed the iguanas maraschino cherries at happy hour. The first time we stayed there, a really big iguana chased my Mom around the pool deck thinking her toes were lunch! It didn’t do anything of course–the whole scene was more hilarious than anything else. Poor Mom. LOL.

Whatever you do, be sure to take a ferry trip to St. John for the day and go to Trunk Bay. It’s STUNNING. Really gorgeous beach. Watermelon Cay (also on St. John) is also pretty spectacular–but you have to swim out to it or rent a kayak. If you swim, watch for currents.

Have fun!

@CelticBeachBride:  +1 for St. John. Hands down the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.

I love St. Thomas, you’ll have so much fun, OP!

I stayed there back in November 2010. Overall I really liked the resort. My only gripe was that the beach was kind of out of the way. You have to walk a ways to get down there, there are only pools up by the hotel.

However, because of this I feel like the beach wasn’t as crowded as it could have been. I was with a group and a lot of them just stayed up by the pool.

make sure to check out happy hour at the bar on the beach under Blue Havana. (We stayed in a Harbor View Suite at the frenchmans reef for the first part of our honeymoon to the US &BVI – it was wonderful.)
