I was appalled when our Out of Town guests started calling me and saying that they were not able to reserve rooms at the Holiday Inn Express under our event code. After speaking with the manager, who told me that despite the fact that I was looking at a contract that had been faxed back and forth, she did not have a copy of it, so it did not exist, I asked if there were any rooms available for the weekend of our wedding and got a hard and fast "no." Does anyone know of any other good hotels other than the Thayer in the area? I have between 80 and 100 people coming in for the wedding and nowhere for them to stay now. Since the wedding is just over two months away, this is not a HUGE problem. (My contract, the one that does not exist according to the manager, despite the fact that I offerred to fax her a copy of it, was from nearly a year ago, so I thought I had this thing wrapped up.)

Hi. There are several hotels in Rockland County, which is about 25 minutes from West Point. They are the Comfort Inn on Route 59; the Hilton Garden Inn on Route 59 & the Thruway Exit 14 and the Hampton Inn (right next door to the Garden Inn) All are conveniently located to the major highways (Thruway and Palisades Parkway. Also, there is a new Hampton Inn right next to Woodbury Commons. That is about 15 minutes from West Point.
Other than really small motels, there isn’t much in that area.
Hope This Helps.

Hi MrsCPT – I’m so upset for you to hear this! I had been planning on talking to Holiday Inn Express this summer, along with another hotel. The hotel is called Homewood Suites and it’s in the Hilton Collection. It’s located in New Windsor/Newburgh right near Stewart Airport. I have not stayed there yet but it looks pretty nice and gets good reviews as well. I’ll be staying there in August for a West Point event, and as I said I am going to talk to them as well about a room block.
That’s really uncool of the Holiday Inn Express… good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Oh, Homewood Suites is roughly 20-25 minutes away – sorry for leaving that out!

I stayed at the Hotel Sierra in Fishkill for my fiance’s graduation and it was INCREDIBLE. The drive to West Point was a bit of a hassle- about 30 minutes + toll for the Beacon bridge. I remember driving by the Homewood Suites by Stewart Airport and it looked really nice too.
