Not married, but going into year three of cohabitation:

1) We do our laundry separately. He’s very picky about how his gets done, and I wouldn’t ask him to take on that chore for me.

2) We eat out a lot and take turns paying, but when we do cook, he cooks 75-90% of the time.

3) We clean about equally — he might clean a bit more than I do, but I do more non-cleaning household chores like picking up supplies, paying bills, scheduling appointments, small repairs, etc., so it evens out.

4-5) We both work around 75% time with other business stuff on the side. I work a bit more and make a bit more than he does, but there’s not a huge difference.

1: He does both of our laundry.  He works from home so he can throw a load in any time the basket is full.  If I have anything I want washed a spacific way, I make sure to do the laundry before he does.

2: Every other week I cook all the meals on Sunday.  Every other week we finish up leftovers and he cooks a few meals for both of us.  He does all the grocery shopping.

3: We share household chores.  He does more of the day to day chores like dishes and laundry.  I do more of the less frequent deep cleaning.

4: I work about 45 hours each week plus a 45 minute commute each way.  About 6 weeks a year I work 6-7 days a week and up to 80 hours.  On those weeks he is amazing and handles everything.

5: He works full time, about 40-45 hours a week from home on his computer.

1. I wash all clothes. He’d load the washer if I ask him to and handle heavy stuff. He irons all of it and I don’t (he bought me an ironing board:)) )

2. I do most of the cooking, he helps to peel\chop\keep company. He cooks occasionally when inspired by something. Then he has to get all ingridents and tools, no substituting! ))

3. We share cleaning chores. I don’t like cleaning and he doesn’t care. So we minimized amount of stuff to dust, own a Rumba and mop weekly at best. If we are expecting guests, we scrub the whole house up and down. I routinely clean the bathrooms and the kitchen when I see fit (i.e. see annoying stain or bored while brushing teeth for 2 minutes)

4. 5. Both work full time

Not married, but we’ve lived together for a couple of years.

1. We collect the laundry in a hamper in the closet and whoever happens to have time to do it when it’s full or needs something dirty will do it.

2. I actually prep all my meals on Sunday so I don’t have to cook anything during the week – I just heat stuff up. So during the week, he does most of the cooking for himself. Once in a while we find a new meal we want to try together so we’ll get the ingredients and make it together.

3. We share the day to day chores like picking up, organizing, etc. and also “deep clean” the place once a month. So I would say we share it pretty evenly.

4. Yes, I do.

5. Yes, he does – usually closer to 50 or 60 hours a week actually.

I do everything around the house and for the baby. We both work full time, but he also has an additional part time job.

Not married yet for another 80 days, but these fit my life so I’m answering them.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she?

I wash, but only fold mine. He is a big boy and can do his himself.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks?

He does mainly the cooking. I don’t have the knack for it other then crock pot and casserole meals.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans?

I like to say its 50/50 but I do a bit more. I always clean the bathroom, so that counts for two in my mind!

4. Do you work full-time?

Yup, office job.

5. Does your spouse work full-time?

Yup, hospital assistant.

DanniBee83:  Not married but will be in a year! 🙂 We’ve lived together for almost 6.5 years though.

1) I do laundry for both of us. We live in an apartment that shares the laundry room with other tenants. So we have specific days to do laundry. When we moved in to the apartment Fiance was working on the days that we had the laundry room, so I was doing the laundry. We are both off now. I do the laundry still mostly and sometimes he helps fold/put away.

2) He does a majority of the cooking because I am no good at it lol. I can do certain things but I would say 85% of the time he is cooking.

3) I would say we split cleaning fairly evenly. Except majority of the time he is doing the dishes, I will occassionaly.

4) Yes, 40 hrs a week.

5) Yes, 40 hrs a week.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she?

All goes in together. He’ll do the washing if I ask but doesn’t seem to notice for himself when it needs doing. No biggie since he’s willing when I ask.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks?

We cook together 90% of the time.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans?

Again, he’ll do anything if I ask but rarely does it of his own initiative. He does, however, do all the ironing and is much better at keeping things neat than I am.

4. Do you work full-time?

Yes.

5. Does your spouse work full-time?

Yes.
