1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she? He does most of the laundry since he works from home but I take care of it when we get busy and he falls behind.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks? He cooks most meals since he works from home but I pitch in when he’s tired, needs a break, or we want something specific that I cook.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans? He cleans 90% of the time but I help out when it’s a big mess or we have company coming over.

4. Do you work full-time? I work full time out of the home.

5. Does your spouse work full-time? He writes from home and 3-4 months out of the year he works a full time contract out of the home.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she?

Our laundry all goes into the same hamper, so whoever has time or notices the hamper filling up does both people’s laundry. I probably do it a little more often, but he does it sometimes on his days off.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks?

I meal plan and write the grocery list, but it depends on our work schedules. I cook more often since he works late, but he cooks if he’s off that day.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans?

Share. I clean a little bit more, since I can’t stand a dirty kitchen, but the rest of house is pretty evenly shared.

4. Do you work full-time?

Yes.

5. Does your spouse work full-time?

Yes.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she? I do the laundry.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks? We work opposite schedules so I’ll cook him breakfast and pack his lunch during the week but he’s on his own in the evenings. Weekends I often cook but he will surprise me every now and then.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans? Usually me.

4. Do you work full-time? Yes.

5. Does your spouse work full-time? Yes.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she? We wash our own clothes.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the onewho cooks? We both do cooking…. depends on who gets home last and who is the most hungry or who is working out that day.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans? We clean once a week and we split it all up. We also altern chores so we don’t end up stuck doing the same shitty chore every weekend. During the week we both make sure to tidy up and keep the house decent.

4. Do you work full time? Yes, I work full time, and just switched to 10 hour shifts from 12 hours.

5. Does your spouse work full time? More or less yes. He is a business owner so every week is different depending on what is going on and what errands he has to run.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she?  He does it about 80% of the time now.  I shifted more laundry responsibility to him because his work situation changed and he isn’t home in time to help with #2 more.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks? I do all the grocery shopping and meal planning and I cook 99% of our meals.  He will help and he CAN cook, but he gets home later than I do so it doesn’t make as much sense.  The 1% is when I ask him to cook me breakfast on the weekend.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans? He has a really good handle on the dishes though I do help out.  I do most of the rest of the cleaning and get him to help when necessary.

4. Do you work full-time? Yes

5. Does your spouse work full-time? Yes, his work often includes overtime though.

These responses have been so interesting! Very different from what I thought would be the majority of the answers.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she? I do the laundry for both of us.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks? During the week I cook. On weekends we either go out, or he will cook.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans? We both clean, but my Fiance is more anal about things than me. He’s a bit OCD about it. But I do try to clean every day.

4. Do you work full-time? No, I work part-time. I’m trying to work full-time though.

5. Does your spouse work full-time? Yes

Thanks for the thread! Really enjoying reading these responses haha 🙂

1. I do all the laundry, includng making/bottling my own  detergent every couple of months.

2. I do most of the cooking, unless we grill. He does all outdoor cooking by grill, smoker or fire, which averages about 2x per week.

3. I handle all the cleaning almost always.

4. Nope, I’m a Stay-At-Home Mom, hence my above answers.

5. Yep, right now sometimes 90 hours per week.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she?

We share laundry, when the basket is full and one of us has time, we do it. It ends up being split pretty evenly. I do however, have a separate basket for my delicates which he doesn’t do, he just doesn’t grasp the whole separate colors, gentle cycle stuff.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks?

We both cook. We both enjoy it and are pretty good at it. Again, just depends who’s home that night and has the time. Our favorite is when we’re both home and can cook together.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans?

We have a cleaning service come in once per month, they do the heavy scrubbing of bathrooms, kitchen etc. The two of us keep things tidy and vacuumed in between. Generally we clean up after ourselves and clean the kitchen after cooking, but if we get behind and it starts getting messy, again whoever is home more that week picks up the slack.

4. Do you work full-time?

Yes, I’m an ER doc plus I’m full time in a Master’s program. I work odd hours and am often gone in the evenings. I’m usually not home 4-5 evenings per week and have work/class about 50-70 hours per week depending on the week.

5. Does your spouse work full-time?

Yes, he’s an active duty marine, although he’s been in 17 years so at this point he has an 8-5 desk job. He also goes to school part-time and is gone 2-3 evenings per week. Plus he has a metal working business on the side.

I feel very fortunate, the splitting of chores has never been a fight for us. It was always very natural. We often work opposite hours and we both just want to make life easier for the other person when they’re busy so we pick up the slack. It works really well for us. When I have a bad week at work he does almost everything and when he has a lot of orders for signs I pick up the slack so he can get stuff done in the garage.

DanniBee83: We don’t really have assigned chore in the house, other than taking out the trash wich is all him. Also we have a baby so we go with the flow.

1. Usually he washes all the clothes, but if the basket is full and he hasn’t done laundry then I do. Is really not assigned to one of us in specific.

2. I do the cooking mostly, but sometimes he will if I don’t feel like it.

3. We each clean something if we see it dirty, not really an assigned chore.

4. Yes I work full time.

5. Yes he works full time.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she? – we throw all our clothes in our hamper in the room and whoever is free to do laundry does it – sometimes its him/sometimes its me – I usually do my son’s laundry

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks? – I do the cooking because he can’t cook.  But if I am not in the mood to cook he usually picks up dinner for us.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans? – we used to share chores but since we had my son and I am back at work full time we have hired a cleaning lady.  We only do dishes and laundry ourselves – typically we put dishes in the dishwasher as they are used and whoever fills it starts it and – laundry is above.  My husband also mows the lawn.

4. Do you work full-time? – yes

5. Does your spouse work full-time? yes – and he is also getting his MBA so he is typically gone one night a week if not more.

1. Do you wash your spouses clothes or does he/she?

We each do our own laundry.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks?

He usually cooks more than me. He’s better at it, lol. I do dishes.

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans?

Share. We each have one chore we refuse (his is cleaning the bathroom, mine is vacuuming), so we each do that for the other. We share chores, but in the summer he does all the yard work (mowing, trimming, etc), so I take on more of the cleaning inside.

4. Do you work full-time?

Yes.

5. Does your spouse work full-time?

Yes.

2. Do you share cooking during the week, or are you the only one who cooks? We cook together. When we have kids this will probably change and I will probably do the cooking while he watches the kids. Mainly because I enjoy it more than the cleanup afterwards!

3. Do you share cleaning chores, or are you the only one who cleans? I do most of the indoor cleaning (sweeping, washing floors, bathrooms, etc. DH does the vacuuming and the dusting and all the yard stuff like mowing the lawn and shovelling snow.

4. Do you work full-time? yes

5. Does your spouse work full-time? yes
