@ejay15:  Ah, but this is one of the reasons we decided to have a long enagement; it’s giving us time to tackle at least some of these adventures with minimal stress!

haha, I can’t believe there are others doing this, too! I’m waiting to close, on a house that will need significant work (Sandy).  Also, I just moved across the country and started a new job last Sept. I got engaged in Nov and rolling on from here! It is starting to seem like a lot, but I am hoping it will all go fine.

@mtkny:  At least some of the time it seems that once you get the ball rolling on a major project, everything else seems to fall into place.  We’ve got some NFSC issues to deal with just because of the age of our house, and those are just the easy fixes; the contractor’s supposed to start gutting the master bath next week to repair some water damage in the floor…and I’m just hoping he doesn’t find any other problems down there that the home inspector couldn’t see…

@cajungirl81:  Oboy, good luck to you. If (knock wood) the sale goes through, we are already gutted, so starting from scratch.

I was, but we closed on our house in January and moved in right afterwards. But, before that, I was both house buying and wedding planning 🙂

Glad to have half of it over with now.

ETA: Oh except obviously I’m not an August bride. Sorry!!

@mtkny:  At least since you’re already gutted, you know from the start what you’re getting into!  How ’bout we do before & afters…?

We are also planning the wedding and house hunting; how stressful! Fiance and I currenlty live an hour away and we’re trying to find something somewhat in the middle so we are still close to our friends and family.

We are custom-building a house and will close 2 months before our wedding.  I’m also working full-time and in grad school full-time.  Yes, I’m crazy =)

@cajungirl81:  Bekins.  Mayflower as a second recommendatiion, although it’s the only time I moved using kitchen packers and the only time I had dishes break. But they were on time and careful with the furniture.

In addition to the wedding planning, Fiance and his two cats will be moving in with me in my house in April and we’ll be putting his house on the market in the summer. My biggest fear is that he’ll be fielding an offer on it while on our honeymoon, or the week prior to the wedding.  I guess that’s why I’m trying to plan as much as I can now.

I’m not looking for a house, but we will be moving from KY to GA two weeks after we’re married. Looking to rent at first, but getting ready for the move and the wedding (with a 7 month engagement) has been equally exciting & stressful! 🙂

YES!! So much work! We’re closing on a condo we bought in the next month so thankfully we’ll move a few months before the wedding!

@mtkny:  Well, the lower half of the bath was demoed today. The damage doesn’t look nearly as bad as we were expecting. The section of subfloor directly beneath the shower & the lower sill of the door will have to be replaced but there doesn’t appear to be anything more severe Laughing Monday they’ll probably be fishing around in the soffit to prep for the can lights that will be going in.  Farewell, my obnoxiously blue bathroom…
