We felt that way when we were seaching too, it took us about 5-51/2 months to find and close on a house. We were getting frustrated too and decided to widen our search a bit and add in ranch style houses (not really the style I wanted) and ended up buying a ranch and I love it! It was the house that I said no to looking at for 2 months because the pictures were horrible and did not do the house justice. It takes time, don’t give up, it will come when you least expect it!

Omgosh YES. Fiance and I are actually renting our first year to make sure we like the area before buying. We started last Monday and it is so stressful and annoying. We found a house we loved on Monday. We put in an application that night and I called in the morning. The guy said sorry, the house isn’t available anymore. Then Fiance called and it was available. It has been going back and forth that it is and isn’t available. So in the meantime we looked at other houses. We would put in application and someone would sign the lease before they could process our paperwork. We put in an application on Friday (we were the first people to view the house) and we should find out today. Fingers crossed and saying some prayers! I’m ready for a house—and I’m ready to decorate and put my pinterest boards to use. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve been looking for rent houses, not for sale, and it’s a pain in the butt. I can only imagine how you feel. Just try to relax and enjoy looking for a place as a couple. You and your Fiance are on the same team.

Ugh nevermind the hunt, then you find something and going through the process to actually BUY it. SO HARD. We’re currently in negotiations to figure out what the seller will fix before we’ll sign the purchase & sales. I just want this process to be over. Yuck.

@RedheadMeggs:  The whole process was nothing but a hassel for my Fiance and I. We searched for almost 3 months and looked at 12 houses before we found our dream house. I was ready to say piss on it after the 10th, but we continued on and I’m so glad I did. We never want to buy another house again though. It was just way too stressful. One second we thought the house was ours and the next second something happens and it was looking like it was not gonna happen. We started looking the beginning of May, put in the first offer on our dream house the middle of July, closed the beginning of September, and got keys the very end of September. We officially moved in the middle of October. We’ve been settled in for a few months now and we love our new home. It was so worth it in the end, but the process of getting through it sucked! Good Luck!

We’ve also been looking since last summer and we took a break from November to January since we got married and went on our honeymoon in December. Laughing

We’re getting frustrated because we are looking in a very popular suburb that never really experienced the housing bubble.  There are bidding wars in some neighborhoods. Yell  I’ve also discovered that Darling Husband is much, much pickier than I am, and we’ve brought his dad with on a couple of our searches because he has a background in construction, so he’s been great in giving us his opinion (but our real estate agent doesn’t like him!)

We too have considered building and we recently talked about it again.  The problem is I want a bit more mature landscaping, especially trees, and you don’t get that with new construction.

We’re renting right now and there’s nothing wrong with the place we’re at but Darling Husband is in a big hurry to buy.  We’re going on Saturday to look at a house but I’m not too impressed with the pictures, so it’s going to be tough to keep an open mind.
