the last housewarming gift i bought was a bottle of prosecco and a large, potted orchid 🙂 who doesn’t like flowers and sparkling wine?

If they have nothing, I would skip the wine and plants and get them something they could actually use.  Either a gift card or a small kitchen appliance – I also like the fire extinguisher idea.

While wine, candles, plants, etc.. are a nice gift if they need everything I’m sure they would rather have somethin practical they need.  (and don’t get me wrong – I love wine and candles).

Ryansgirl:

Bread so that this house may never know hunger.

Salt so that life may always have flavor.

Wine that joy and prosperity may reign forever.

Put it in a nice basket with a candle and a picture frame.

My DH’s go-to gift is a cute welcome mat! Not too expensive and you can find something that reflects the couple’s tastes. It always goes over well.
