Ok I just attempted the foulest tasting cream cheese icing I have ever tasted *blurgh* – I have the sugar-free/less baking down… Even have adapted custard etc to be diabetic friendly but I cannot get this icing/frosting/topping down.
Has anyone else got any ideas or recipes that taste good?
PS I am not diabetic, my Fiance is so I have only been playing around with this stuff for about a yr… Thou mum was recently diagnosed so it doesn’t look good for me either, figure I may as well get used to eating like this and I MAY be able to prevent myself developing it in the future too

Are you looking for desserts specifically or just regular food? Have you checked out the blog skinnytaste.com? I know they have lots of lower-fat recipes, I can’t say for sure how good it is on low-sugar, but she gives the fat/calories/sugar breakdown for every recipe.

@red_rose: Haha I was just looking specifically for a dessert topping or cake topping at this point. Food I have figured out, plus google is a great help when I want to be inventive.
One of my girlfriends said to try a little honey next time and a little more vanilla essence as it will sweeten it and taste better without being too sugary – so we’ll see next time.
I was really just wondering if anyone else had a foolproof diabetic frosting/icing recipe they could share 🙂 Our other concern is we can’t use cream (which is what my diabetic Mother-In-Law uses) because I am lactose intolerant (thou yoghurt and cream cheese don’t worry me – go figure)…
Oh yes cooking time in our house is fun and often very experimental hahaha

my sweet n low box had a icing reciepe where sweet and low was used.. however i have never tried sugar free deserts except for Polly’s Pie makes a Ban Berry pie made with splenda.. I always get that when having something at my parents because they are both diabetic.
