I admit I’ve been really vain when it comes to waiting on stretch marks to appear with my pregnancy. I had a bunch from growing so I’ve always assumed I would see a lot with pregnancy. I’m just beginning my 3rd trimester (28 weeks/5 days) and I’ve been on overdrive watch, I’ve already thought I saw stretchmarks but they just ended up being a scratch or from how my clothes laid.
This morning I woke up and I have this really long white line that stretches from just below my breast all the way down to below my belly button. My first thought was STRETCH MARK!!! It literally appeared overnight and is really pretty big, do they appear that quickly and at that size and color? I kind of assumed it would be a gradual thing and I’ve been watching for red marks for the start of them, but do they appear white first? There’s obviously nothing I can do about it if it is but is that how they usually appear in pregnancy or am I being paranoid? I dont think it could be anything else.

If it’s white, it’s probably just an indent from sleeping on a sheet funny or something!
My first one showed up at 32 weeks, and it looked like a light scratch–Then it got bigger and darker!

Mine were very noticeable right away. Mine showed up early when I was still pretty small. Most of them started from old stretch marks that I had during puberty. They were purple/red in color. I hate them ๐

I noticed mine at 4 months. They appeared on my hoo-ha. I was pretty shocked.

@cora_123: They’re even worse now that I’ve had the baby because they look so much closer together now and you can see the indents from them. Hopefully the will fade soon ๐

I’m 38 weeks now and just got my first stretch marks a couple weeks ago. I have one on each of my sides and they’re dark. ๐

I already had lots from weight gain but they had mostly faded to white. Now I have tons of dark red ones. But if that’s the price I pay for a baby, I’ll take it.

@cora_123: My girlfriend got her first ones on her lower abdomen around 33w. I’m 30+5 and only have stretch marks on my boobs. They are bright red/purple lines. So far my belly is in the clear. I totally expect to get some since I too have them on my hips and thighs from puberty. I rub lotion on my belly in the morning or at night or when it itches. I can’t say that its of any help but it gives me a few minutes out of each day to rub the “baby” and connect with her.

I didn’t get any, but I used to vainly examine my stomach every single morning to see! Every time there was a scratch or mark I would panic. I was glad when I went into labour at 38w2d because it was a couple less weeks for stretch marks to form.

I’m prone to them, i already had faded ones on hips and thighs from weight gain/loss but i didn’t get any with my first until a couple of days after she was born! just when i thought i’d gotten away with it!! i started getting them on my stomach further up than the ones i had with my second around 32 weeks but she was a much bigger baby.
I can’t say that i’m over-joyed with having them but my girls are more than worth the stretch marks/saggy boobs/eye bags. Mostly i just feel lucky that my body is healthy and works as it should, sometimes i have a moment of jealousy when i see a mum who still has a ‘perfect’ body but hey! maybe she’s looking at me and envying my happy marriage/small feet/pretty nails! ๐

@Casperbride: I’ve been reading a lot about how you can get them after too, bummer. Don’t get me wrong I really want this baby and will put up with the stretch marks once they appear but it’s one of those things for me that I know not every mother gets them and I would like to be a lucky one! Chances are looking slim though!

Mine showed up about 32-33 weeks. My sister didnt get hers until after delivery… I havent noticed anymore since they initially all sprouted. I am hoping that they go away or atleast get lighter after baby. They are mostly pretty low but I did have some at the top of my belly button where my naval piercing was. Ouch!
