I love questionaires!!

Have you told your parents yet?

Yes

How far along are you?

23+5

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

We told our parents 2 weeks after finding out so i was 6 weeks by LMP.

What is the reason for your timing?

Our parents were due to meet for the first time and i knew my mum would guess so myself and my fiance both called our parents at he same time.

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

i phoned my mum whilst on my lunch break and asked her what she normally says to me when im baking a cake. Her reply was ‘have you got a bun in he oven?’. I replied yes and she started crying happy tears.

My fiance just said to his dad ‘just thought i would let you know tha chocolatelime is pregnant, can you tell mum please’!!

Can’t wait any longer – i have a HUGE baby bump

OHow did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

*sigh* have no idea..maybe bring a bottle of good wine and give it to my dad saying “and this one is to be opened in July..a week after your youngest grandaughter’s birthday!”

Much worse on my mind: how to tell my 20 years old stepson…

Have you told your parents yet?

Yes

How far along are you?

18 weeks

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

I told them when I was home for Thanksgiving when I was about 15 weeks.

What is the reason for your timing?

I wanted to tell them in person with my husband and that was the first time since learning about the pregnancy that we were both in town together. Also, it was the first time since learning about the pregnancy that my siblings were all together as well. We had just done the nuchal scan and heard the heartbeat so it felt like this was a healthy pregnancy.

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

We told my husband’s mom at her Thanksgiving dinner by giving her a present–a T-shirt that said “Great moms get promoted to grandma.” It will be the first grandchild on that side of the family.

We had a plan to break the news to my side of the family by putting my 1-year-old niece in a shirt that said “I’m going to be a big cousin” but that plan fell through because she ended up being in the hospital with a stomach bug on Thanksgiving. So we told my siblings by pretending to take a picture but really doing a video while my husband said “Everybody say ‘MJ’s pregnant!” to capture their reactions.

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

We told them at about 10 weeks.

What is the reason for your timing?

We wanted to wait until we were further along.

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

My dad is a big financial/future planning person so I asked him and my mom to come over and review our will. I drafted a fake one and wrote a paragraph in it about them becoming grandparents. They were pretty excited and suprised.

Have you told your parents yet?

No, other than my husband I have only told my best friend (who had to know to help me with pregnant-logistics relating to my recent wedding) and my dentist.

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

At Christmas ๐Ÿ™‚

What is the reason for your timing?

I definitely wanted to wait until after 12 weeks – this is going to be the first grandchild on both sides, so I wanted to be pretty sure it was a sticky baby before bringing other people in, I didn’t want them to be unnecessarily saddened by a miscarriage if it happened. My mom had a miscarriage before me, at 10 weeks, and she had already told everybody, so she has always asked me to please not tell her until 12 weeks if/when I get pregnant. We were going to share the news at 12 weeks, but it was a bunch of peoples’ birthdays, and we are pretty weary of being in the spotlight after our November wedding, and we didn’t want to steal birthday thunder, so we decided to wait until Christmas, since that is a really special, private, family time to share anyway. I am excited ๐Ÿ™‚

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

I will be almost 15 weeks at Christmas, we are going to tell my husband’s family when we celebrate with them on Christmas eve, by giving his mom a present to open, which will be a Christmas card for “Grandma”, with the 12 week ultrasound picture inside. Same sort of thing for my parents, the next day.

I am not PG yet. (fingers crossed) but thought I would share some of the ideas with you!

  • sister wrote on a slip of paper inside Easter eggs she was PG and had us all open Easter eggs at the same time
  • sister had my nephew walk in wearing a shirt that said “I’ll be a big brother on March 23, 2013”
  • SIL sent out Xmas cards with the two kids wearing Big Sister & Big Brother shirt.  Cute idea but Mother-In-Law was not happy to find out along with the rest of the world!
  • We plan on filming a “horror” movie preview along with fake blood(DH is a horror movie fan), screaming and static shots to insert at the end of our wedding video.  The coming attraction being the baby. ๐Ÿ™‚  We will invite our Bridal Party and family over to watch the wedding video and get this surprise trailer at the end.  Very excited for that.

Mom yes; dad no (they are divorced)

How far along are you?

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

Told my mom at 8 weeks because I saw her & was having MS, so she knew. I’m planning to tell the rest of the family this week (dad & siblings).

What is the reason for your timing?

I STILL feel like it’s too early to tell people, but my mom doesn’t want to keep it secret any more, so I guess it’s time.

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

Probably just a short group email to the family. I want to keep it low-key.

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

We told our parents the day after we found out. I was going to try waiting, but litereally couldn’t hold it in. Too excited!

What is the reason for your timing?

My parents are in America and we live in Italy. I wanted my mom to know in case somethign went wrong. Even though we aren’t physically close, I knew I’d need her supprot.

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

Again, since we are separated, we had to get a little creative, so we told them via Skype. My mom’s reaction is completely priceless and makes me laugh every single time I watch the video: https://vimeo.com/51271453

Have you told your parents yet?

Nope! Hell, I found out I was PG on the 10th and I haven’t even told my husband yet since I won’t see him in person until this Saturday.

How far along are you?

4wks 6days (so, really early)

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

New Year’s Day

What is the reason for your timing?

I don’t get to tell Darling Husband until this Saturday and I won’t be back in town until Dec 30th. I have New Year’s Day off work, so I’m going to head to their house that day and do it in person.

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

For Darling Husband, I had a custome onesie made that reads “Ourlastname V 2.0” and I’m going to give it to him as an Xmas gift on Saturday:) For the family, I ordered coffee mugs that read “Only the best Dad’s/Mom’s/Brother’s get promoted to Grandpa/Grandma/Uncle” and they are going to unwrap them together!

Have you told your parents yet?

Yes!

How far along are you?

16 weeks!!

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

It was around 7 weeks that we told everyone.

What is the reason for your timing?

We had planned to tell them at 12 weeks, but I ended up having some spotting at 6 weeks  and went to the hospital and my Darling Husband and I realized that if something were to happen, we wanted our parents and close friends there for support

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

We had bought picture frames that say coming soon and place a picture of me holding the pregnancy test in a heart and put them in the picture frames. We gave each parent one it took my mom a minute to realize and my Mother-In-Law alot longer to figure it out! My brother and his sister we just kinda told afterwards. Our friends we went out for dinner with and showed them our ultrasound picture.

Have you told your parents yet?

No, I have not told any family members other than my husband.

How far along are you?

11w 4d

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

We told our parents on Halloween, a few days after we found out.

What is the reason for your timing?

I am really close to my mom, and I knew I couldn’t keep a secret until our sonogram date.  Besides, everyone knew we were trying.  So, we told our immediate family right away and waited to tell everyone else until after we had a sonogram and saw the heartbeat.

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

We took our respective parents out separately.  I bought gift bags and purchased onesies to put in them.  In my mom’s bag, I also included my pregnancy test.  Additionally, we printed out the following poem:

I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss,
I don’t yet have a name.
You can’t yet hold my tiny hands,
Nor whisper in my ear.
It’s still too soon to sing a song,
Or cuddle me so near.
But all will change come July,
That’s when they say I’m due.
I’m your new grandbaby,
I can’t wait till I meet you.
All I ask between now and then,
Is your patience while I grow.
I promise I’ll be worth the wait,
Because of all the love we’ll know.
So what I have to give you now,
Is a wish to you from me.
I cannot wait to be a part
Of this wonderful family!

Have you told your parents yet?

Yes, both sides

How far along are you?

9 weeks, 3 days

When did you, or do you plan, to tell your parents?

We told them at 6 weeks, but we thoought we were at 8 weeks.  Turns out I ovulated 2 weeks later than most people.

What is the reason for your timing?

We wanted to ask for baby stuff for christmas and we were excited!

How did you, or how are you planning to, tell them about it?

We told my parents on my father’s birthday.  We had my 1 year old nephew “help” us make him a birthday card and he delivered it to my dad.  It said ” happy birthday grandpa” on the front and then “Love, Cole  P.S. I am going to have my very first cousin in July 2013”

We told his parents by giving them a christmas list that started with normal stuff and then ended with baby stuff.

Both cried and were so excited!
