@lilsweetie:  I cant even explain why I like 7! My only connection was that I was born 7 lbs 7 ounces other than that.. no connection- i just happen to like it and all of its multiples.

Thanks <3 ! I originally was going to post “Im not a fan of 6” but was not sure anyone would even understand how you could like/not like a number.

Haha, I picked our wedding date WAY before we were ever engaged! Our birthdays are exactly one week apart, and this year (and next year) the halfway point between our birthdays is a Saturday! We were originally planning on 5/11/14, but neither of us could wait that long! So our new date (as of December) is 5/10/13!

the date we wanted was 4-13-13 because 13 is both our fav # but none of the places we  wanted to  have our reception at were open then . so we had to settle for 4-6-13 it all works out in the end.

It was one of about two summer dates that we could make work, and it is the birthday of my grandmother, who died in 1995. A combination of practicality and sentiment, I guess! 🙂

Originally, I wanted a summer wedding in the worst way. I knew 2013 was out of the question so we were looking into summer 2014. His parents were married July 19 and his sister and Brother-In-Law were married July 12 so we naturally picked July 26. 7 months into our engagement, and over a year to go I started to get impatient about the wedding. I didn’t want to wait all the way into July, plus my birthday is the 19th and I didn’t want my birthday and our anniversary to become one, so I wanted to move it up. I HATE snow so November-March was out of the question, and April it was. He wanted to stay away from his niece’s birthday, April 15 so I went earlier. Originally we picked April 5, but then changed to a friday wedding so April 4 it was.

We went with June 7, 2014 because we wanted to get married in June (a month after we graduate) but wanted to get married as soon as possible haha 🙂

We actually really wanted a fall wedding, but because I’m a certified teacher (desperately trying to find a teaching job), we decided to plan it optimistically as though I’ll be teaching either this year or next, which pretty much put our best option to Mid August. It leaves ample time for a wedding and honeymoon, and has us back in time for new teacher orientation before the school year starts. Trying to think positively about the job prospects as well as be realistic about having the time to plan a wedding. 🙂

My Fiance is a tax accountant, so pretty much anywhere from Janurary – mid April is off limits. We got engaged in June 2012, so if we were to do spring 2013, it would be less than a year engagement, plus Fiance would be busy in the months before, so a lot of the last minute arrangements would be left to me. I didn’t want a summer wedding (too hot!) so that left us with fall! We chose October 19th because we began dating on October 15th.

Summer date because neither of us would have grad classes, and then July 28th because it will be our 7th anniversary and it just felt right!

OOh! I never get to talk about how I picked my date!

Okay, so, don’t make fun of me BUT I am like obsessively following all of the old wives tales (alright fine, i’m breaking a few but still, a lot of them) mostly just for fun I guess since it just helps turn my indecision into an easy decision.

So here is how I picked the month:

Married when the year is new, he’ll be loving, kind and true.
When February birds do mate, You wed nor dread your fate.
If you wed when March winds blow, joy and sorrow both you’ll know.
Marry in April when you can, Joy for Maiden and for Man.
Marry in the month of May, and you’ll surely rue the day.
Marry when June roses grow, over land and sea you’ll go.
Those who in July do wed, must labour for their daily bred.
Whoever wed in August be, many a change is sure to see
Marry in September’s shrine, your living will be rich and fine.
If in October you do marry, love will come but riches tarry.
If you wed in bleak November, only joys will come, remember.
When December snows fall fast, marry and true love will last.

My Fiance really loved the idea of this and we really want to travel so he thought it was a nice way to bring our love of travel and adventure into the mix. + We thought it was so great that guests would have an easier time traveling in summer (school, etc).

And for the day of the week:

Monday for health,
Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best day of all;
Thursday for losses,
Friday for crosses,

And Saturday no luck at all.

We knew that most of our guests would be traveling so it had to be the weekend but we were also aware that a friday wedding would be more affordable, so we decided friday was a better bet than saturday for sure.

We knew we wanted it to be at least a year and half or more from when we started planning (~ december ’12) in order to give us time to save, so that’s how we ended up with the year(’14). But the coolest part is this: long ago (before we started planning, maybe about … a year and change ago) we had decided to use our favorite play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as our inspiration. The majority of the play takes place on the summer solstice. So when we had already decided to pick a friday in june we realized that 20th was the eve of the solstice and there was really no question.

So, as totally geeky as it may be: We’ll be marrying on the 20th of june(the eve of the solstice) in 2014.

@phoebephoebo:  Lol this. My date is because that’s when I have enough vacation days outside the semester.
