I do mine at home they’re gel and they last about 10 days. Removal is easy but time consuming. I recently did a sparkly french for NYE 🙂

I got a do it yourself gel manicure set… just used it for the first time two weeks ago. I don’t have any chips but I will be taking it off this weekend because my nail has grown out. I love it I use to paint my nails every five days or so because they would chip. I’m very hard on my nails but like to keep a girly side by painting them 🙂

I personally love gel nails! They last forever and if you do a neutral/nude color, the outgrowth is barely noticable.  They are a pain to take off, but some salons will do it for a few bucks ($2 or $3 in my area). As for any damage to natural nails, a good nail/cuticle oil like CND solar oil, hand cream, and a buffer block should do the trick.

I’ve only done them once and they did damage my nails, the same way the fake tips I used to get as a teen did. My friend always gets them and doesn’t notice any damage. I think it’s because she always gets them though.

I was considering it when I was going to do my wedding and Honeymoon together. Now we’re not doing them at the same time so I decided to just do a manicure for each. But my nails will definitely chip by the end of my Honeymoon I’m sure.

I love them! It’s the only thing that lasts. I get about 2 weeks out of them with usually just slight chipping along the top.

I tend to just peel them off myself when they start getting loose (I can tell because I can’t run my fingers in my hair without snagging- then it’s time to get rid of them!). It leaves the nails a little discolored in the places where I peel it before it’s totally ready but nothing compared to the acrylics I used to get back in the day.

I’d have them done all the time if I could afford it!!

I loved when I first put them on, the first three times, but last time I went to take them off it was painful due to a cut I had close to my nail which I had completely forgotten about (my fault), so I say try it! Just make sure you dont have any scrapes because it burns like hell when you put your hands in the dissolving liquid and the uv light machine.

I’ve never had mine chip, but I get manicures between 2-3 weeks. Once or twice, I was very busy traveling and had the no chip polish on for 4 weeks without chipping. I love that stuff!

I grew put my nails as best I could before the wedding and then got a french manicure with the gel. They lasted forever. We moved a week after the wedding and ripping boxes open with my nails and using them for every moving task, they lasted without chipping. They really grew out too! They make your nails super strong so it doesn’t split or break. I eventually got sick of having them so long and chewed away at them so I could play guitar again. Here’s a pic of my wedding nails (first hand on top).

Love them. They last so long and stay shiny!! Make sure you ask for a gel polish manicure…not gel nails.

@Rubbs:  it’s actually really easy to get off. Take some cotton balls and tear each one into 2-3 pieces. Soak with Acetone, place on nail, and wrap with a small piece of aluminum foil. Wait about 10 minutes and pull of the foil. Try to put some pressure on the nail while you’re pulling the foil as that helps get more of the polish off. After that use a buffing brush to smooth out your nails and get rid of any missed polish.

@IzzyBear:  That’s for the tip! I’ll have to try it cuz I do miss getting the gel. It lasted so great on my honeymoon and the couple of other times I got it done.

I would definitely recommend it! I have a DIY kit and I do them at home all the time. It’s not as good as salon quality, but even the DIY version lasts at least a week. I usually only re-do them because they’ve grown out so much that they snag on everything.

Shellac? I have them on for the first time right now and I **LOVE** them!  They need re-done badly (it’s been a solid 3-3 1/2 weeks) but they look great (other than where they’re grown out).  I plan to get them re-done tomorrow or wednesday and continue getting them in the future :-)!!

@ButterflyKisses13:  They are amazing! The polish lasts about two weeks on my nails, I switched to shellac manicures about a year ago!
