How are you getting visual height variance at your wedding reception?
For ladies using ballroom venues…are they letting you hang anything? I keep visualizing hanging christmas lights or tulle pom-balls instead fo super tall centerpieces, to break up the space in a grand ballroom with high ceilings…but I wonder how much I can get away with hanging…
Show me or describe your ideas! Lighting? Standing elements?

I’ve got French flower buckets (tall, thin silver buckets) full of red carnations with damask ribbon bows on the handles for around the ‘stage’/altar area. Red carnation pom balls on short, glass stands (thank you dollar store! I made pom balls from whiffle balls for only $4.25 each!) on the reception tables, and red, black and white Chinese paper lanterns hanging from the rafters to go along with the red, black and white damask decor on the tables. I also have votive holders filled with red (or I may leave it uncolored, I’m still not sure) water and white floating votives. I can fill all the votive holders so the votives float at an even level, or have the votive levels staggered as they run down the table, for a little variation.
I’m still completely stumped as to what to do with the wall behind where we’re having the ceremony, though.

I know my mom wants to hang stuff from the ceiling, but I’d have to see the place again to think out logistics.
