I just had my first Bridesmaid meeting on Saturday. It was a spa/pamper day at one of their houses and they all officially meet. We had food after and I talked about my expectations and gave them a few details.
What are you doing to have them meet?

My bridesmaids are awesome and suggested coming into town for dress shopping. 2 live out of state and one lives 4 hours away (the 4th is in town) so I’m really excited to see them all next month. Three of them knew each other in college and the 4th, who I have know since birth, has met 2 of the 3 during my college graduation weekend.
We’re going to check out a couple of dresses for myself, Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses for them, go out to lunch and talk, and then make the DIY save the dates over wine that night.

That’s so awesome that you were able to do that! Its impossible for us to manage it before the rehearsal dinner but I would of loved to make it happen sooner. They have only spoken to each other on the phone or via email. 3 of them know each other but they’re not particularly friendly… its going to be interesting!

Jennifer, do you think that they will get along? I plan on having them meet at least once a month, that way they ar eall familiar (maybe even friendly) with each other. I hated being in weddings where we didn’t know each other. It was awkward.

Four of my bridesmaids are close friends, so they already know each other. My sister (MOH) knows them too. The other BMs are my cousins who are younger, so I assume everyone will meet at the shower. I’m not worried about awkwardness really.

I had 5/6 able to go to a spa night. We had a massouse come in & do short massages, we did our nails, and I played a little get to know you game-the M&M color one. We also painted pumpkins (it was in October). I’d like to do something else soon if we can! It went pretty well-there was just a wide range in age, so it was just hard for the youngest to relate to the oldest (16-30).

We all went dress shopping together. There are 4 and two pairs knew each other. We met for lunch first so everyone could get to know one another and then went shopping. It was a really great experience.

Our whole bridal party went on a trip last year to a beach resort in Mexico, it was really fun to have them all hang out before the big day! Now we are three months away, and it has really helped to have them communicate wiht each other without me having to facilitate every time!

that sounds so nice! i was just in a friends wedding and we had so many prewedding parties/prewedding planning events that we got to know each other well. we had known each othe from high school but weren’t really friendly.
my wedding party consists of my sister and sil…. so there’s not really a need for anything extra like that since we’re all family!

Mine all know each other. I’m only having three girls: my little sister and my two closest friends.

I really want to do a little party for my girls, I just don’t know where to do it since I’m the only one who lives in the city. But I know, as one of FSIL’s BMs last year, I felt weird not getting to know the other BMs until we went to try on dresses. I felt so awkward because Future Sister-In-Law was the only person I really knew!

All of my BMs have known eachother for 24 years! Crazy, huh? Two are friends who were in my kindergarten class, the other two are my sister and the sister of one of the other 2. : )
