There are a lot of people who are special to us in our lives who we are not including in our wedding party (it is 6 on each side as it is, and we’re paying for everything)…
My FI’s sister is not in the party and neither is my brother. There are other special family members who mean a lot to us and we want to include. I have a dear girlfriend who won’t be in the wedding party also.
We plan to include them in the following ways:
– My Brother is MC; My aunt (2nd mom to me) is saying the prayer or a reading; My uncle (2nd dad to me) will do a special toast; My cousins will sing or play the strings at the ceremony; His sister/her husband are making the slideshow (need to find a better way to include her than this, though); I will give the bouquet to his grandma (all of my grandparents have passed away).
How do you bees plan on including special people on your wedding day?

I have a good friend who isn’t a bridesmaid (I don’t like big wedding parties) but she’s doing a reading for us. 🙂

We have family doing readings, being MCs as well and instead of parents we are having our siblings do family speeches due to some issues with parents not getting along.

My son and daughter were our wedding party.
My brother, SIL, sister, and several close friends all gave some of the seven blessings that are part of the ceremony.
A close friend gave the reading. She also assisted with train-fluffing duties for NotFroofy. (My son, the dude of honor, was not at all sure he could handle that, and the Maid/Matron of Honor was already fluffing my train.)
A close friend did the video of our wedding. Her husband operated the CD of the music.
My ex-husband gave the blessing over bread after the ceremony.
If we’d had a chuppah (wedding canopy) that was not free-standing, we could have used another four people as chuppah bearers. And if we’d had more guests, we could have used ushers. However, with only twelve guests at our ceremony, they were already all participating in one way or another.

I have my brothers doing readings since it would have made an extremely large wedding with the seven of them!

You did great! You could add guest book attendant; and someone or several to pass out programs if you’re looking for more things for people to do.
