I’ve been pretty quiet today. Im trying to formulate words around all these feelings I have. I feel as though by electing Donald Trump as our president we have just vaildated every horrible thing he has ever said. I am struggling to accept that this country is full of potentially equally horrible people as him.

If there was ever a time to say I just cant.

Today is the day.

CakeSniffer :  I think you’re absolutely right.  Many of my friends and I struggle to find a candidate that speaks for us because we’re socially liberal yet fiscally conservative and not libertarian.  I think if the Republican party took religion out of politics and got on board with gay marriage, a woman’s right to choose, contraceptives, etc. they would pick up a lot of younger voters.  All of the friends I mentioned (including myself) voted Dem this year but at some point had considered ourselves Republicans.

missinthecity :  Unfortunately, with this election they are doubling down on social issues. I would venture a guess that marriage equality won’t last a year and abortion with be illegal in almost all cases by the end of his term. They are preparing the cases for the SCOTUS as we speak.

If that happens, they will lose young voters forever. Mark my words.

raindrop101 :  I believe it.  My parents are part of the far right evangelical tea party and their voices aren’t getting any quieter.  This is the first year that I really considered myself a Democrat and I don’t see myself heading back to the Republican party any time soon.  Social issues are far too important.

Social issues are huge. Which is why I voted for Trump.

Spent my morning stressing over buying tickets home for my FI  and I (only one airline that Flys inter island and they are jacking price as we were trying to book them) now at the college for an exam and then a heated discussion in my poli sci class. We have 0 trump supports in class so I expect a lot of negative talk. Wish I could skip it, I got enough of it from social media already. At least I can go home and relax this afternoon and realall the negative energy.

I planned on wearing my Hillary t-shirt but it made me too emotional.  Maybe tomorrow.  I will wear that t-shirt until it is a tattered rag.

CakeSniffer :  same situation. My state (NJ) voted blue. I really wish I didn’t have to be at work. I want to curl up with a blanket, some hot tea, and watch les mis. Between wedding planning joy and this country election horror, I hear the red/black song from les mis playing in the back of my mind.

Feeling completely awful, disgusted and disappointed. The majority of my coworkers are pro trump. So defending myself all day at work was wonderful. Just wanted to throw up and cry. Who can constantly vomit such hate then be president. It’s gross
