Right now, for my FIL’s and my dad, I’m think of doing  photo books. I want to include family pictures and pictures of my fiance and I when we were younger as well as our engagement and wedding pictures. I’d also like to do an individual gift for each dad (probably gift cards) and something special for my Future Mother-In-Law (no idea yet what). My Future Mother-In-Law has been a great help to me in regards to wedding planning. I lost my mom 5 years ago so it’s been great to have a mother figure.

My parents HATE it when I buy them gifts!  Every time it’s like "don’t waste your money… save it up for something nice for yourself!"  They’re so cute and humble.  But for the wedding, we will definitely get them something to say "thank you."  We’re also thinking photo books (our photographer makes amazing ones), or a nice photo from the wedding in an engraved frame.

My parents hate it when we give them gifts, too.  It’s the thought that counts.  Photo books and framed photos are a great idea.

I’m also planning on giving them embroidered handkerchiefs, with:

"Mom, To dry your tears,/As you have always dried mine.  Love, (name and wedding date)"

"Dad, To remember the day/You gave me away.  Love, (name and wedding date)."

We’re getting married in our new home town of Louisville Ky.  Both of us and our parents are from Richmond, VA so we got the parents Louisville gifts to remember the day.  The moms are getting Louisville Dish Inc. serving platters which have our venue on them as one of Louisville’s hot spots and the dads are getting the official City of Louisville tie – nice tie with fleur de lis pattern.  Part of our wedding package are photobooks which will go to the parents as well.  I also got my mom a hankie which will be embroidered with something cute that I’ll give her the day of the wedding while getting ready.

My parents are staying at our house while we’re on our honeymoon for 2 weeks taking care of their granddogs and I think that’s the best gift for them – they’re really excited to have a free place to stay in Louisville to explore and have their own mini vacation while we’re away.  Works out best for all of us 🙂
