to wear your future wedding ring on your right hand until the wedding? 🙂
I have wanted an alexandrite ring for years. Well, I got one–as a wedding ring! The wedding is just over 4 months away, though, and I’m finding it hard to wait because it’s so beautiful and it’s something I’ve wanted for so long. How bad is it, really, to wear your wedding ring on your right hand until the wedding?

Oh so tempting, but don’t do it! Save it for the big day!!! It makes it more special. I made the hubs let us try our rings on several times before the wedding, but we never left them on more than a few seconds. You don’t have too long to wait.

have your mom hold it so you’re not tempted— seriously! 🙂 what is alexandrite?

I don’t know that it is bad, but try to wait. Consider it an exercise in patience. Like Heathaah said, it will make wearing it once you’re official even more exciting.

You can obviously do whatever you want, but I wouldn’t do it! It’s your wedding ring! It’s a symbol of your vows and the commitment you make on that day–it’s not just any piece of jewelry, even though I’m sure it’s gorgeous! Try to wait, I know it’ll be hard, but I think it will be worth it, and make it even more special and exciting when it finally gets slipped on your finger!

Thanks, everyone! I sort of needed a pep talk to give me the strength not to wear it. Well, at least not outside the house. 🙂
Alexandrite is a rare gemstone that changes color depending on the light! It was discovered in Russia in the 1800s, and it was known as the stone that was an emerald by day and a ruby by night. This photo is from GIA:
This is a photo of my wedding ring (before it was reset in white gold in my size) with my engagement ring. For some reason, it always photographs as purple! In real life, it changes from a deep slightly bluish green to a reddish purple/purplish red:

so cool! I bet it photographs purple because of the flash of your camera 🙂

As excited as you are, definitely try to wait for the wedding!!! Then you get to wear it for the rest of your life 🙂

I wore my band for a few hours when we first bought it, but Fiance made me take it off before we went to bed and as much as I want to wear it now, I think he made a good call. It probably won’t be the same on the big day if you wear for the months leading up to it.

I have an alexandrite pendant–I love it! I rarely wear it though. It’s bluey-purple.
Eh, wear it if you want. =]

How wonderful! My tanzinite necklace looks a a little like that. Your rings are stunning!

I know when we buy our wedding rings that it is going to be super hard for me to wait too! 4 months isn’t so long though, especially if you’ve already waited so long for it. I’m really bad at keeping gifts secret, so when I bought my FI’s wedding gift, I gave it to my brother to hold onto. That way, I won’t be tempted to show him early.

If I were you, I’d buy another alexandrite! Treat yourself and end the temptation. 😛

Your ring is gorgeous! I can definitely see why you are tempted to wear it. LOL
